Kamal's Experiment with truth HEY!RAM has become
only the second tamil film and fifth Indian
movie to be Nominated in september's Toronto
International Film Festival!Nayakan back in 1988
was the first tamil movie to be nominated now
it's Hey!Ram.August sees Hey!Ram in the upcoming
European Film Festival in Spain and the Locarno
film Festival in Switzerland.Kamal is said to
be attending this festivals.

Hey Ram has 3 national awards and nominations in
The International Film Festival,European Film
Festival and the Lorcano Film Festival.Hey!Ram
did better than Nayakan in these aspects.The
Only Indian movie to do so in the History of
Indian Cinema.perhaps a nomination in the oscar's
is within sight.

  The National Award Has Hey!Ram winning 3 of them
  but never got the best film award,and the fact
  that Hey!Ram got apparisal from Canada,Spain
  and Switzerland in their festivals.Where Hey!Ram
  was the only Indian Movie selected.The fact that
  Hey!Ram did not win the best film section at the
  National Awards is somehow surprising.Its shows
  the Mentality of the Forigeners are better than

  I totally agree with the fact foreigners have better mentality in analysing movies than Indians. Since hey ram at the beginning targeted at Gandhiji in a wrong way but later on hero realizes the fact and he changes he mind . Indians were stuck with the beginning and they have forgotten to see the beautiful message conveyed at the end. It is really pathetic

  UR FILM WAS GREATT.HATS OFF.BUT THE ONLY THING WHICH MADE THE FILM A FLOP IN INDIA IS DUE TO LIVE SOUND RECORDING.WE KNOW THAT THIS FILM IS TAKEN FOR AN OSCAR BUT I FELL IF PEOPLE UNDERSTANDS THAT MOVIE IT IS GREATER THAN GETTING OSCAR.HOW CAN A POET IN YUGOSLOVIA EXPECT TO GET GET A SAHITYA ACADEMY AWARD .SO RATHER WE CAN REARRANGE OUR STUPID NATIONAL AWARD COMMITEE AND GIVE OUT AWARDS FOR INDIAN FILMS WHICH WILL BE EQUIVALENT TO OSCAR.

  And not to forget about the music. Ilaiyaraja had given such a world class music, especially with the background music, that it entirely lifted the spirits of the movie. Sad he did not get any award

  Live sound recording the standard Hollywood way of recording dialogue. However, due to technical restraints and being new to the method of working, the sound was rather poorly recorded on Hey Ram, unlike say Lagaan or Dil Chahta Hai which both had excellent locatin sound recording. In fact, I don't remember any film at the Oscars ever which did not have live sound recording...
