stars in indian cinema.

  Madhavan also does Hindi films as HERO and also has better hindi accent than Kamal. But it is true that the most respected south indian actor in Hindi filmdom is Kamal Hassan ( Add Girish Karnad in the list)
  
  I forgot the bumper hit Sadma in my earlier post .....the remake of Moonraam pirai. Incidentally this movie was a big break for Sridevi.
  
  But I would like to see Kamal making more Hindi movies and thereby showcasing his magnificient Cinematic skills to a wider audience.Interesting that non-masala, non-formula subjects movies are getting a better reception in Bollywood nowadays.
  
  As a kamal fan, I am still sad that a epic movie like 'Hey Ram' was a commercial failure.With all it's defects, it is still a great movie.

  Yes,his market in Hindi is poor compare to Hindi actors..but better than any tamil actor or south indian actor..

  SRK was trying to rope in Kamal for his Main Hoon Na. ( The role was done by Suniel Shetty finally).
  Kamal refused because the role was anti-national.
  
  Ajith was the villain in Ashoka.
  
  Madhavan for your information has done one Hindi movie and is at present doing a remake of Nala Damayanthi in Hindi. ( this time as a Bihari cook and not a palgat brahmin).
  
  So for your information Anand, the answer is not NONE. south indian actors are doing bollywood roles.
  And I repeat.....Kamal Hassan remains the most respected South Indian name in Hindi filmdom.
  Genius is always recognised everywhere.

  There is a diff between "most respected south indain actor" & "most wanted south indain actor". Kamal belongs to the former. The latter pertains to financial viability. Kamal's box office record, in hindi is pretty poor. (Not that it is very good in tamil)

  if and all a matured, healthy hindi movie needed a south indian actor, i think, kamal would definitely suit it. of course, kamal's hindi movie would definitely grab a decent collection in TN.
