  t is a misguided notion with many Tamils that they are the best users of English language second only to Englishmen.But it is a sad fact that Tamilnadu has not produced a single writer in English whose work has measured upto world literary standards.So it is the half boiled knowledge of English obtained through the so called convent/english medium schools that is being exhibited by Tamil artists.This is indeed a "vetkakedu" for all of us as this shows total lack of pride in using our mother tongue and only pulls down the self respect of Tamilnadu.This practice is being perpetuated by Tamil TV channels the biggest culprit being Sun TV. I wonder why the defenders of Tamil pride have named their channel as Sun and not as Kadiravan or Aadhavn or Pagalavan.

  It is becuase they want to show off, not that their is anything wrong with that ethically, but I find it really annoying
  
  BECAUSE THEY CAN ONLY SPEAK BROKEN ENGLISH
  
  They always end up missing words or pronouncing them in a really weird way that makes the word seem like some other word else.

  No yaar! Because they are trained to talk English when being interviewed cause if they talk tamil their imej will go down..I mean as an artise they wnat to show the whole world taht they know English and they are able to communicate in that International lang!

  bcoz they dono to speak proper tamil!!! their have so many slangs eg: madras, coiambatoore,trunelveli & so on.......maybe they afraid of mistakes during interview. so speak in improper english + local tamil = tamil artist.

  Dont think the actor&Actress are speaking in English is"Gouravam"4 them,It is B'coz in their childhood days they never study English or they been criticized by others 4 speaking Broken English!So they take this as their personnal grudge & now killing us with their "Idiotic English Knowledge"

  Have heard Kamalhassan at many interviews. He speaks Tamil perfectly and intelligently too.
