After their successful pairing in films like 'Vaali' and 'Mughavari', Ajit and Jyotika team together again in 'Poovellam Unn Vasam'. And bringing them together is director Ezhil whose earlier two films 'Tullatha Manamum Thullum' and 'Pennin Manathai Thottu' revealed him as a director of sensitivity. The film is produced by V. Ravichandran of Oscar Films, who had earlier produced the super-hit Vijaykant starrer 'Vanathaippol'.The story centres around two families involved in construction business. They are neighbours and their palatial bungalows are identical. Says director Ezhil, "It is about two families who are friends since the last two decades. Ajit and Jyotika belong to the two families. Though it is a love story, I have tried to make it different by my treatment." Says Ajit, "When Ezhil narrated the story to me, I knew it would be an interesting role. Director Ezhil's treatment has freshness and he is one who never compromises. It is an honour for me to work in this film, and I'm sure it will be a success." Says producer Ravichandran, "About 80% of the shooting is over and the film has shaped better than I expected. Vairamuthu's lyrics and Vidyasagar's music is sure to be a big draw." The supporting cast consists of Shivakumar, Vivek, Nagesh, V.S. Raghavan, Yugendran, Vyapuri, Master Andrew, Arvind, Ilavarasu, Kovai Sarala, Sowcar Janaki, Jaya, Sukumari, and Jhansi. Mumtaz has a crucial role to play. Sayaji Shinde, the talented Marathi stage -T.V.- Film actor who played the title role in 'Bharathi', plays the role of Jyotika's father in the film. While Ezhil pens the story-screenplay, cinematography is by Arthur Wilson, editing by Sridhari Prasad, stunts by Kanal Kannan and dance by Raju Sundram and Brinda.

M. Prabhakaran has designed the sets. Ezhil had wanted two identical palatial bungalows adjacent to each other. But they couldn't find what they had in mind. So a huge set was erected on a 13-acre ground near Prasad Studios. The bungalows have lavish interiors, with all the necessary items - like T.V., Fridge, etc., built reportedly at a total cost of about one and a half crores. It took more than two months to complete the set. The set is not one of those dummy sets that are erected for films, but are real bungalows built with concrete, solid interiors and furnished with all the required items. Another interesting fact is that the bungalows have been erected as per the 'Vaasthu Shastra' rules. Marble floorings, chandeliers and a lawn in front add to the beauty. Reportedly the grass for the lawn has been imported from Australia. "This is the first time that I have erected sets on such a lavish scale," says Prabhakaran.
Let us hope it is going to be a succesfull movie, right guys?
