I saw the movie Citizen a few days back. Though the story was good, u think the screenplay was terrible. There was no continuity in the movie. Also the songs were killing the pace of the movie. I think that if the script was handled by Shankar or Maniratnam, they would have done a great job. What do you guys think????????

  The story was good..different. BUT the screenplay wasn't that good...and the directing also. the police force wasn't convinving. The scene towards the end where Nagma and her colleagues barghed into the mosque armed with guns...it looked SO stupid..they were all bumping into one another and they weren't organised at all! The police force doesn't funtion like that!!..or does it?

  Actually Citizen would have been better if not for Ajith. Because Nagma's Role was a prominent one, he Cut many scenes involving her, including her appearance in the Climax scenes in the Court.

  Dear pal,it is an interesting idea.But,comparing masters of the art with an ameture is not that justified.It would be more interesting if you can suggest a better screenplay for the film "citizen",than the director who faild in doing it .Infact it would be of a greater help for the people who wants to remake that film in other languages.

  One if it were Maniratnam:
  No need of Ajith getup in 9 roles because it would have been So DARK and nobody would have seen his face.
  
  If it were Shankar:
  Would have choosen Arjun for the role because Ajith was choosen for this role for his popularity
  
  Moreover Shankar Directs his own stories only
  
  And the news was that Ajith CHOPPED many scenes of Nagma towards the end (Nagma did come to Court) so that NakkuMaa doenot become popular
  
  RESULT:
  Best scene of Movie is when Nagma inserts Gun inside her Saree and we shouted "Captainukku oru Oo Poodu"

  citizen was good. the art direction was superb especially on the ship scenes.director subbiah has shown that he needs attention.futhermore i think that he has set an impact in this debut movie of his.the bottom line is that subbiah can be included as a classy director with direction icons like shankar n maniratnam.it's good for tamil filmdom to have directors like them.

  Mr.Maniratnam - is like Oxford University still surviving because of the earlier reputation. But, he is still good. Better than millions of director out there.
  Mr.Shanker - God damn he is a new breakthrough in INDIAN MOVIE INDUSTRY. His simple/non story line movie may become blockbuster. Ex Jeans - has nothing else than boy meets girl. For the past few years he built his reputation through the following:Gentleman,Jeans,Indian....so on.

  I can't say much about the story apart from that some of scenes and story were taken from Spielberg movie Amistad. Ajith tried very hard but he was not realistic , you can't blame the director , there were holes in the story. But I am sure Ajith fans would love him however crap he was. As for whether Maniratnam or Shanker doing it differently, I think they have already done simplier films like(Shanker) Indian/Gentleman and Maniratnam Indira
