Even if Hey!Ram did not fair well at the box-
office.Kamalhaasan is very happy that his movie
Hey!Ram has become the First Indian movie to
be nominted in various Film Festivals.Kamal is
also happy that this movie has beaten the record
set by Nayakan.Kamal himself did not rule out
a possiblity of Going to the Oscar's.with a place
in the Toronto International Film festival which
is the second biggest ceremony after the Oscar's
Hey!Ram is truly of International Standard.
Kamal will be attending all this festivals where
he will be Introduce to all the people in Toronto
Madrid and Zurich in Switzerland.

Kamal has also recieved other Nominations
Particulary the Asian Film Festivals panel could
be selecting Hey!Ram in their festival

  What?This is first movie to get selected in international film festivals????.THe person who started this thread seems to be unaware of all that is going in the rest of the indian tinsel world.
  Adoor gopalakrishnan,Budhadeb dasgupta,Mrinal sen,Mira nair are all favoutites of many international film festivals.
  Even in tamil,Already mahendran,Balu mahendra and now Maniratnam(right from his mouna raagam ) is attending international film festivals and all the above mentioned masters had their films screened there to rave reviews.
  Mr.RK if you don't know anything abt these all,shut your mouth,Don't start threads like this which are misleading.
  And Toronto is second biggest ceremony after oscar???
  Are you aware of the prestigious french riviera,Cannes international film festival.Your kamal has to only dream going there.
  Do you know anything abt The great indian maestro Satyajit ray,and his work 'pather panchali'(his first) won the prestigious 'Best Human Document' award at cannes.
  Cannes is considered to be most prestigious movie event taking place on this earth.Next comes venice,Toronto ,Berlin(famous for sexually explicit works).Oscar awards are primarily meant for american and those guys judge themselves and award themselves and hype it all over the world.This amateur kamal who know nothing except Hollywood,always goes overboard and talk abt oscars all the time.
  I doubt you are a Kamal fanatic,That's why you post messages like this.
  In the world of Mrinal sens,Mahendrans,Gopalakrishnans ,Dasguptas ,Mira nairs and Maniratnams your kamal has no place.
  If you are a kamal fanatic sit lonely and utter kamal matra indefinetely.
  Don't try to boost your Hero's image by starting threads like this.

  thanks for the information about hey ram.i loved that movie.the movie deserves an oscar.it is very difficult to be succesful as well as be intellegent,in TN.kamal is the only person i guess ,and maniratnam.

  the sender may not be right,abt the info he has given abt fulm festivals but i am appaled to ur comment abt kamal as an amatuer.i can definitely compare kamal to maniratnam,perhaps not with the other noted directors u have mentioned.

  I accept my mistake i.e in the process of firing that idiot Rk,i sounded a bit bad abt kamal.But i oppose your thought of comparing kamal with mani in directorial abilities.Kamal is definetely the master in acting profession,But simply direction is not his strength.Mani has the capacity to make a honest project which can appeal to critics as well as a film which may deceive and captivate a common man.His communication power is simply amazing,but not of kamal's.
  And your fourth point.He got a place to showcase his film there in Toronto,He didn't win any award,if you are mentioning abt any other place,pls post it.
  Mani has been showcasing his works right from his 'Mouna raagam' at various festivals.And has won many grand prizes at various areas for various categories.Kamal should learn more to achieve that much excellence in direction field.

  thanks for replying.u had mentioned that kamal cannot be compared to mani bcos he doesnt attract audience,but U r missing a point.a good director need not be succesful in box office.shyam benegals movie have been flops here but they are classics.hey ram might not have the fast screenplay but the aesthetics was there from first to last scene.dont u agree with me.

  No,I didn't mean in that way.I too agree with your point a director needn't be commercially successful to be called as a good director.I just made a point that mani is capable of riding both the horses(Commercial viable as well as critically acclaimed),for that point don't mistake that i am in an opinion that commercially sucessful films are only good.Refer my first posting,Most of the directors,whom i have listed are in no way connected to commercial cinema(Adoor,Dasgupta,Mrinal sen,etc..)
  I agree with your point abt 'Hey Ram',but my point is just with 'Hey Ram' which got nominated at various festivals,making a comparison with Mani(Whose Recent 'Kannathil' got screened in Toronto and Palmsprings festivals in the Master's category)is not fully acceptable to me.Well, I am just expressing my opinion here.Mani has already made a mark at international circuits with his films.Kamal has just now stepped to do a full-time director job and his launch with 'Hey Ram' is quite convincing.Let us hope his 'Chandiyar' shapes well.Kamal has already proved he is a great actor,but in my perspective,he is yet to prove he is great as an auteur too.
