Many feel that Mani is not as big a director the media show cases him to be. I am a strong approver of Mani right from his mouna ragam to aytha ezhuthu....All of you, please share ur opinion in this regards as to whether u like Mani and his films are not, giving the required explanations for both.

  according to me mani ratnam is definitely over rted.To see what good cinema one should watch ray's cinema.good cinema is one that creates an impact which i felt after watching Bala's pitha maghan
  which according to me is missing in mani ratnam films.

  i am not gay so i dont care about his rate whatever that is. i know one girl who is very very under rated, she was a dancer in the may madham song in jay jay, her perfomance was great but rates very low. Just 1000/-.

  Mani by not working under any director before, has developed his own style. For all his shortcomings his sense of visual composition is extremely good. PC Sriram has made his own movie too but still the magic of visuals is missing
  in his films. The editing, lighting, locations which I presume Mani supervises is a standout from the rest of the directors in India. I would also rate Singeetham Srinivasa Rao as a Visual Director, still he is not comparable to Mani.
  
  In movies like Iruvar and Kannathil Muthamittal the storytelling and acting was better and more realistic than any film he had done and as good as some art films, but we don't remember these movies as much as his other more popular movies like "Alay Payuthe"
  
  I am interested in filmmaking too. Hope someday I meet my "first inspiration"

  This comment on him may be due to his 'Paesum padam' i guess,but for this,i have not seen singeetham being visually engaging anyway.Anyway agreed with ur comments on KM,Iruvar.
