  the film was definitely a box-office hit in the time when it was released (1988) - 15 yrs back.
  i know this for sure b'cos i was a young school student who wasn't taken out for any commercial movies at that time, but for some rare hits like this and anjali (1990).
  the light effects (especially in the songs) and the music were very highly spoken about and ofcourse the elegance with which the half-brothers' relationship was dealt with.
