Friends,

It is my dream - and many of you share it too, I'm sure - to see Ponniyin Selvan made into a film (as promised by Kamal, but now forgotten:-(

However, nothing stops us from dreaming about the actors / technicians who should play the various roles in the film. Here is my partial list:

  I heard a while ago that Maniratham and Kamal hasaan tried to get together to do ponniyin selvan. Its was I guess their dream. But somehow it did not work out because its not possible to execute such a thing in a single movie. I guess a trilogy wud be interesting and also.. they cud consider doing this as a TV serial.
  
  Rajinikanth and Kamal haasan should seriously try to do this., It would be a good farewell to the movie industry

  Interesting to see all these postings. But I believe that if u cast any of the above mentioned actors/actress into any of the characters of PS, there will be atleast some small "nerudal".
  
  I firmly believe that the only we to shoot PS is by making an animated movie using the state of art technology. Even this may not create the exact replica of any of the characters (can we ever get an exact replica of Arunmozhivarman, Vandhiyathevan or Azhvarkadiyaan?), it may be very , very close (according to the PS movie director's perception).
  
  Even if u see the different "versions" of PS which came in kalki (i.e. PS repeated in Kalki at various "kaala kattam") and observe the figures drawn by atleast three different artistes, u can see the difference in which they have portrayed various characters.
  
  I have my doubts about how far of the PS spirit will exist if Kamal does the movie.

  I have enough of faith in Kamal and many others that we have 'selected', that they will be able to transform themselves into the respective characters. So what if we can not get exactly what Sri Kalki had in mind? We will definitely get the appropriate emotions out of these good artistes, Im sure.
  
  And in any case, I dont think animation is suitable for a serious venture like this - animation generally works for cartoon / comedy skits. Tell me one serious animation movie?

  if we had a way to give tamizh postings then its allright..but writing tamizh in english is "kolai" and make reading difficult bcoz each have their own spelling for tamizh words...

  well said bharath, i also think it is better to use Tamil when possible, English when appropriate. Surely Karthikeyan, we are fully willing to use Tamil when we use a Tamil editor based forum, where every one posts using the same font and reading is painless.   baskar, i dont get your point. yes, no one can foeget Nandhini and Poonguzhali. But we are only trying to make the 'best possible' film, given that any fiming of any great novel will suffer by comparison with the original. Why dont you give your suggestions for the two characters? And who else but Kamal do you think can do the title role? Come out with your choice, we can discuss. After all, we have not commenced shooting yet;-)

  ramya will be a great fit in nandini's role -- but these glamour dolls of today will never fit in the dresses of kundavai, vanathi and more particularly poonguzhali.
