After Thennali, Kamal's victory is missing. Alavandaan and PKS touched 100 days in morning show. Now Panchathanthiram also following the same. Now only 80 days, Panchathanthiram is showing at two theaters in morning show.

  Pancha thanthiram , PKS are some old boring story by Crazy mohan & his dry jokes, I was just suprised to see this film running more than Hey Ram, which was quality films, expect a few perverted scenes!

  Funny how people keep declaring movies like PMK, Aalavanthann, etc as faliures. Last month I saw Panchathanthiram here in Brisbane Australia. The theatre was packed. There were young and elderly people. People laughed at the perfectly timed jokes. Everyone had a good time. Failure?? Really???

  I'm a great fan of Kamal, but I have to say that, apart from Thenaali, none of his projects were he worked with Crazy Mohan have been successful. Of course, Kamal is a great actor, very talented even when doing comedy, but PKS was not as much fun as Thenaali. I can't comment on Panchathanthiram - I haven't seen the whole film, but the few scenes that I have seen were very dry. Typical Crazy Mohan humour, especially the "front-back" scene - Crazy Mohan is not talented enough to be working with Kamal Hassan. But unfortunately, Kamal Hassan has to put up with inferior writers like him because none of his good projects (like Aalavandhaan or Hey Ram!) work.

  I disagree with you.....
  
  1) Michael Madana Kamarajan - IMO is one of the best ever comedies made in Tamil cinema.Minus the dragging climax.
  
  2) Sathi Leelavathi - Kamal plays a guest role.But our man was really fantastic. The coimbatore accent was top-class.I think this movie was big hit.The Telugu version was a super-duper hit.The Hindi remake with Salman and Anil Kapoor titled Biwi No 1 was a failure.
  
  3)Tenali : Blockbuster .But this role did not test kamal at all. He just breezed thro' it.
  A neat performance by Jayaram too. He also played
  a large part in the movie's success
  
  4)Pammal k Sambandham: Average hit. Definitely not a flop. Again a light role for Kamal.
  
  5) Panchathanthiram: A real entertainer.Beats me why the movie was given a U/A rating
  
  6) Avvai Shanmugi : Even a kamal Hater will agree that the unique brad of Crazy Mohan's comedy was at it's very best.A really wholesome film.
  All credit to KS.Ravikumar too.
  
  The only movie where I was disappointed with the Crazy Mohan -Kamal was 'Kaadhala Kaadahala' .But my respect for Kamal Hassan grew when he had the guts to stand against a large section of the Film society to complete this film

  Even thought Aalavandhan had a tough story line, but the way it is presented was amazing. How can a person think of so much minute dtls andd portray in his film. Kamal has done a amazing work in that film. Hats off to him.
  
  PKS, is a comedy buster. Dialogues by crazy and delivery by Kamal is a gr8 combination.
  
  since PT followed PKS its not getting proper response from its audience as it is expected. PT is another comedy film where kamal is outrageous.

  People have not mentioned Apoorva Sagotharargal.I thought Kamal teamed up with Crazy Mohan on that one.This movie was the catalyst which drove the Tamil movie fans back to the cineama halls in Malaysia in 1989 after the invasion of VCR's in the early 80s.
  I thought Kadhala Kadhala was excellent too.I had a friend whose wife was dying of cancer in Kuala Lumpur.She watched this movie and liked it so much that it definitely provided some of the lighter moments in her last few days.
  In my books Avvai Shanmugi was better than Mrs Doughtfire.The comedy,presentation and acting was simply superb.

  But I remember it was Kamal himself who wrote the
  screenplay for that movie.

  I think kamal was so obsessed with Technology that kadhaya koattai vittutaar.
  
  The story line was not very new, just the handling was different.

  I read Kamal's interview in Kungumam and he accepted Aalavandaan is a flop. But for PKS and Pancha Thanthiram the collection are ok.
  
  It means to say that a movie is not classified hit or flop by looking at the number of days. Why Kamal mentioned Aalavandaan is a flop and PKS & Pancha Thanthiram was ok even though they run 100 days? It is because the money put in for Aalavandaan was quite high but for PKS and Pancha Thanthiram were lower.
