What's wrong with our Present Tamil heroes??

Why are'nt today's Tamil heroes not really keen in doing negative roles or character roles. Do they think that they may spoil their image or their market by doing such roles??
Are they trying to play it safe and continue to make us fools?? I guess an actor must be prepared for anything and he must act in all the roles with high potential in acting. What's your opinion.

I guess you get into movies by mere good looks....u don't even have to act s'times. Cause with all these youngs actors and actresses, it has to be a love story and preferably with a college background...so what more does the hero need other than being young and handsome? It's not like every good looking guy or gal can act !! That's a fact and we've seen it. But then again we enjoy watching movies rite? so why complain? Anyways, you wouldn't want some fat woman with flabs dancing in the rain, who can actually do a great job acting......would u? So we'll have to accept and appriciate the roles of these 'heroes' & 'heroines'. Just my two cents worth... :)

You are right to some extent, Irene.
I really appreciate your point.
But, I do not deny the fact that a viewer goes to a theater for getting entertained. But, remember, I’m not talking about acting or anythin’ like that. All I wanna say is today’s actor’s are not ready to play any role they find with acting potential. In Hollywood, top heroes like Schwarzenneger play a negative role while Tom hanks plays the role of an aids patient. Do u think our heroes will look forward to play such roles??
Is’nt Jurassic park an entertainer?? Why do u think singing and dancing alone are the part of the movie??

I guess singing and dancing are a major part of a movie...in Indian movies though !! If you ask me, I could very well live without it. :)
Well, most of the time the artist's character/role depends on what the people would want them to portray.....probably they wouldn't really appreciate 'Madhavan' dying of aids or getting killed while playing a negative role....if you know what I mean.

I admit the fact that singing and dancing are the major part of today’s movies. But the question is how long will this continue?? The only thing that prevails from olden days ever since talkies emerged is the songs and I guess it’s time for redefining tamil movies and refining them, and actors has to take a look into it seriously coz’ It’s their duty to entertain people.
What’s wrong if Madhavan plays the role of an aids patient, provided he does it convincingly?? Good work is always appreciated by everyone and I would like to remind you of the role, Vikram has done in Sethu.
Was’nt it appealing??

It sure was appealing !! But then, have you been to a theater where the crowd gets really mad....just because some vilain hit Rajiniganth?? Well, I've been to one like that. I mean...most people don't appreciate certain things the way they're supposed to be appreciated. I wouldn't care a damn if Madhavan or whoever's going to die of whatever.....as long as the story is GOOD. But then again there're these people, the vulnerable group...I would call them.....find it hard to understand that the character in the movie is dying & not exactly "the actor". Unfortunately, the 'vulnerable group' form a part of the crowd who's going to watch the movie..rite? I hope you'll agree with me on this one....majority of the people expect the hero to be all successful and really not dying...so I guess the actors would have more roles to choose from when this 'common attitude' among the people change.
Coming back to redefining tamil movies, if it's only Rajans, Irenes and all the people in this forum, then I think it's a good idea....if not...you gotta work on it your whole lifetime. Tell me honestly, how many people who watch movies and enjoy the songs are going to give in to your idea?
Sorry if I've got you all confused...I seem to be asking a lot of questions rather than responding to yours...
