The Four Candles
The four candles were burning slowly. The ambience was so soft you could hear them talking. The first one said: “I am Peace! However, nobody can keep me lit. I believe I will go out.” Its flame rapidly diminishes and goes out completely.
The second one says: “I am Faith! Most of all, I am no longer indispensable, so it doesn’t make any sense that I stay lit any longer.” When it finished talking, a breeze softly blew on it putting it out.
Sadly, the third candle spoke in its turn: “I am Love! I haven’t got the strength to stay lit. People put me aside and don’t understand my importance. They even forget to love those who are nearest to them.” And waiting no longer it goes out.
Suddenly..A child enters the room and sees three candles not burning. “Why are you not burning? You are supposed to stay lit till the end.” Saying this the child begins to cry.
Then the fourth candle said, “Don’t be afraid, while I am still burning we can re-light the other candles, I am Hope!”
With shining eyes, the child took the candle of Hope and lit the other candles.
The flame of Hope should never go out from your life, .. and each of us can maintain Hope, Faith, Peace and Love!!!! Have a nice day..

I am not flattering.
When i read this writings what immedietely comes to my mind is the advertisement of LIC which came in the 80s.
A child standing in front of three or 4 candles.
This is one of the best writings i have read and i will always remember this along with my favorite quotings which relates to candles.
"It's better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."-chinese proverb.
"Vilakkugal sirikkinrana ... saavai nerungum theekkuchiyai paarthu.."
Another one is Elton john's candle in the wind song.

There are quite many hubbers who dont know Tamil. At the same time everyone visiting this site knows English. So I dont feel like doing double work in this section of the site.

PP,
I knew you had poetic flare, but honestly didn't know your fiction skills. Your story is excellent. It is good enough to be in the text book of any class, anywhere in the world.
I am glad I stumbled upon this thread!!
