Naveen woke up to the sound of a robin singing outside. Memories of the night before came flooding back and he smiled. He turned over and gazed at Neha.
"Hey, good morning!" she said sleepily.
"Hmmmm. What's the time?"
"It's nearly nine."
"Nine! Oh my God, I have to go!" He jumped out of bed.
"Hey, what's the rush? It's Saturday."
He turned around to look at her as he dressed.
"It's Priya's Birthday today."
"Oh," her voice faltered as she sat up in bed.
"What's the matter?"
"Oh nothing. I mean..... Well...."
Naveen smiled,
"Neha, Priya and me are just friends."
Neha let our a sigh of relief.
He came and sat down next to her,
"Hey. I love you."
She smiled and kissed him.
"What's that for?"
"Because that's the first time you've said that in words."
Another year passed. There love for each other grew more intense each day. There bond was to increase further one day........
"Yes amma. Ok, see you on Sunday then." Naveen put the phone down.
"What did mami say?"
"Oh just to come and see her on Sunday."
"Well?"
"Well what?" Naveen asked nervously.
"Shouldn't you tell her about us?"
"Tell her what? Yeah mum, I've fallen in love with my cousin Neha and we're living together?"
"No you donkey. That we want to get married."
Naveen looked at her,
"Do you?"
"Yes."
"So you're proposing to me?"
"Yes!"
He looked her straight in the face then,
"OK."
She smiled and he took her into his arms.
For any other story this would have been the happy ever after ending. Not this one. What happend to make Neha the unhappy bride in 4 years time? What happend to the engagement of Naveen and Neha? What would Naveen's mum say? Where is all this leading to?
