  I would have enjoyed the story more, if pAtti had not died and the story ended with the gitA piece. I loved some of the descriptions esp - the one about muL pAthai and malar pAthai.

  Congratulations again.Simple and breezy style.
  As I was reading about pAtti's death, I expected the story to end with maarkaNdEyan remembering pAtti's letter. On the other hand, if you had ended it that way, some one else might have called it cliched:-))

  I wanted to put Maarkandeyan character in a position to face the real death of a loved one.
  Though he has read the gita angle about death, he
  would have to experience losing a loved one in order to understand it really. First reaction
  for such a character would be to throw away all the intellectual theories behind death and to
  cry away. (which I showed in the story) Only when many such experiences build up
  one can really understand the vedantha angle of
  it. Previously in his life, he is afraid of death because of just the gloomy nature of it. So I made him to experience it.
