There are few books which contain decent collections of english short stories. And I'm not talking about some readers digest stories either. I mean really good short story collections, the classics. Perhaps someone could post some suggestions.

I personally enjoyed the collection entitled, The Short Story, 30 Masterpieces. It contained some of the most relavent and literary value filled short stories everwritten by western writers. The collection is a must for anyone who enjoys western shorts. Also relating to another thread I agree with royal reff's opinion on the book Mr God, its me anna.

I am trying to find a book I had growing up. This was in the 50's and 60's. It was a collection of poems, stories and quotes. I don't remember the name but some of the stories and poems was: Story - The Littlest Angel by Charles Tazwell; Story - David's Star of Bethlehem by Christine Whiting Parmenter; and Poem - A Prayer by Ediwn Markham. I thought it was 1001 Wonderful Things. My sister thought it was 1001 Prose, Poems and Promises or something like that.

I'm trying to find a way to get my hands on the original, not shortened version of Johnny Lingos Eight-Cow Wife from about 1965 (may have been a Reader's Digest story) by Patricia McGerr. If you know where I can find it please email me @ leighmax93@hotmail.com
