"Yes, that's the one," Naveen said to the woman serving him as she showed him a diamond ring.
It'd been a month since he and Neha had been engaged.
That Sunday, he'd been apprehensive about telling his parents. At one point, he decided not to tell at all but the thought of Neha's dissapointment changed his mind.
His parents' reply had left him gobsmacked.

"You're both only 21. Wait another five years till you've finished your degrees and a re suitably settled down."

If anything Naveen had expected some sort of opposition but this..................

He smiled to himself. He and Neha had talked over about it and there advice seemed to make sense.
Neha had told her family and at this too Naveen had expected opposition but it came from totally unexpected quarters. A distant relative of Neha's, Ajay. Neha's parent though were thrilled.

He watched the ring being packed up. Even though they were already engaged, he felt that the engagement wouldn't be a proper engagement until he'd bought Neha a ring.
He paid and looked at his watch as he walked out of the store. It was 9pm.
..................................................

Neha sat home sat watching Alai Payuthey. She watched as Madhavan went searching for Shalini in the various medical camps.
Would any guy on this earth go searching for their lover like his character in the film, she mused.
She looked at the clock on the wall, 10 pm.
Wonder where Naveen is, she thought.
.............................................
An hour later, five blocks away, police cars and ambulances surrounded the scene of a car crash.
Naveen edged through. How short life is, he thought.
He rounded the corner and accelerated. He opened the windows and felt the cold air on his face. He was alive, he was in love.
................................................
" Oh no, not again," Neha said, as she rushed upstairs to the bathroom and threw up for the fifth time that day.
"Knew I shouldn't have trusted his cooking," she thought weakly as she wiped her mouth.
............................................
Naveen felt the exhilaration flow through his body. He turned around another bend not realising it was a one way and by the time he saw the other car coming towards him, it was too late to press the brakes. One moment of pain and Naveen knew no more.

Neha at home, lay sound asleep.
