Suki - Singapore indians can also be your friends too right, smile at them and they will return the smile and soon you can make friends. make a visit to Jurong East Arulmigu Murugan Temple on any Tuesdays(abt 4.00pm) Raagu Kaala Poojai and you'll see lots of ladies there(majority from India). You can make friends there easily.
Good luck

What is the Raagu Kaala Poojai for, especially ladies?

Idiappam
Raagu kaala poojai is the prayers for Goddess Durgai - This special prayers are only on Tuesdays where ladies gather together, sing and offer their prayers by putting lemon lights with ghee and flowers to Goddess Durga.
On Fridays evening and Sunday morning, prayers are also offered to the Goddess but its only normal prayer with offering of lemon lights.

idiappam
ladies alway pray for their husband's(thaali & pottu nilakkunum) and children's well being. Guys pray for ?????, i do not know.. what do u pray for?.
Infact I suggested to a temple President that guys should be asked to take part in a prayer similar to sumangali poojai?

Neela,
Guys do also pray for their wife and family.
Idiyappam is an exception and may be due to Singapore's modern culture.
I do see many youngsters come to temples, as if they are attending a fashion show and treat temple as a place to meet their frenz.

Vimal, this is a discussion on these poojas, not about me - the Idiappam of Singapore. So just stick to the discussion on that issue.
I know you and your likes - they are suffering from a disease called 'i very good, you no good' syndrome. Seek treatment.

Its true, guys and girls do not dress tradionally (actuallay need not be tradional clothes but decency is a must but ?)when going to temples. Can't say anything or else they start saying unnecessary things and next minute they convert to ++++.
Idiappam - u have not mentioned what u pray for?

Right, Neela!
The right thing guys pray for is 'selvam' - in todays terms 'money'. After all, the natural instict of 'men the provider' is still in them. I think most men pray for that, to provide a better life for the family and those around them!
Oh Lord! give a million!
'Uruvai aruvai uladhai iladhai
maruvai malarai maniyai oliyai
karuvai uyirai gadhiyai vidhiyai
guruvai varuvai arulvai guhaney'
here 'varuvai' means 'income'. I think!

idiappam- Good to know that u guys also pray for family. We can ask for neranthara varuvai but please no milliion, Its greed- afterthat will be onthru kidaithaal orthrai vithukodukanum.I'm not
ready for these.
But i have to agree that money makes the world go round. Before marriage I thought good loving husband enough but now with children money first then love. Got loving husband but Can't pay hefty bills with love.
idiappam - i need yr help:

Sorry, Idiyappam, had I hurt you.
The following is the correct meaning, I think.
O! Lord Muruga you are the one with the form, you are also one without a form. You are the one who has it all, and you are the one who does not have it all, you are present in the smallest, in the flower, in the ring of the bell, and in the Light. You are the embryo, you are the life, you are the destiny, and you are the fate. Please come upon us as our Guru and bestow your blessings.
Varuavaai- means please come..come and bless us.

- you are right
last sentence - guhaney ,come as guru and bless
Idiyappam- thanks for ......

When I read the meaning for above sloka, I remembered this lovely award winning song by Vairamuth from 'Kannathil muthamittaal'.

I don't think so...
This song is by a mother to her child (daughter)
It is expressed to give a meaning like
Lovely girl, and at the same time naughty girl.
Izhaittha kavidhai nee, Ezhutthu pizhaiyum nee.

Idiappam, I feel the above meaning has some correlation to above film song.
