Hello Rajesh!
Buy any fresh ground coffee powder without chichory. For 1/4 kilo coffee powder, add 25gms chichory. Mix well. In a filter, put 3 or 31/2 sps c.powder and press it with yr hands well. Pour 1/2 cup boiling water and close the lid. After 15 minutes, after all the water is absorbed, again pour 1/2 cup of boiling water and again close the lid. After 15 minutes the coffee extract will be ready. To this extract, add any good milk which is in a boiling state with 2sps sugar and 1/4sp any instant coffee powder[it will further enhance the taste of the coffee.] If you cant get any good milk-you can mix any good instant milk powder-3 1/2 sps for a cup of boiling water. If you are in India, Nestle's Everyday instant milk powder is the best which will give you the exact taste of Madras filter coffee. I am always bringing back this instant milk powder and freshly ground coffee powder whenever I am coming bACK FROM Tamilnadu.

Hello Mr.Tamilnattan!
If you happen to visit the United Arab Emirates, then you are welcome to our home to taste the traditional filter coffee of Tamilnadu!

Hello Mr.Rajesh!
I have forgotten to mention one thing-measure 3 or 3 1/2 spoons coffee powder for a cup of coffee. Green Label is having much chichory. I think that it has 40% chichory. So the taste will not be there as the filter coffee and sometimes the excess amount of chichory affects the stomach.

Thanks a lot Mrs.Mano .....
coffee mug is almost twice the size the indian cup.so can you clarify the measurements with the cup that comes with the electric rice cooker which is a standard arround the world.yes green label has lots of chicory ,can u suggest me a packed coffee brand that is good.
what about the steel lid with handle and holes inside the upper chamber......... should it be above the powder

Hello Mr.Rajesh!
I think what you have described is the coffee filter. Yes, you put the coffee powder inside the upper chamber, press with your hands tightly so that the boiling water could immerse in it easily and the extracted coffee essence will go through into the bottom chamber easily. i couldnt remember correctly the size of the cup which is used for the electric rice cooker. i think you could have seen the eversilver tumbler used in most of the houses in Tamilnadu. for that size, 3 or 31/2 sps of coffee powder is needed. In Tamilnadu, i will buy the freshly ground Narasu's coffee powder or Coffeeday coffee powder.Or any other fresh coffee powder will do. For instant coffee powder, either Bru or Taster's choice will be good.

Hello Mr.Tamilnattan!
Thanks for yr concern. U.S.A's warships are always around the Persian Gulf for the security and safety of the United Arab Emirates. So there is no immediate problem for the Indians living here who are half the population of U.A.E.
We are hoteliers here and so you can taste the Tamilnattu samaiyal either in our restaurant or in our home!

Hello Mr.Ramadas!
I hope you would have known that the outsiders are not allowed to cross the immigrations to meet the transit passengers inside the airport.
By the way, I can understand Malayalam eventhough I am from Tamilnadu. I am a great fan of Malayalam songs and malayalam films.

Mrs. Mano !
We are giving you the honorary title 'MalayaaLa ManOrama' for your knowledge and interest in MalayaaLam.
Even the transit passengers are going to praise Mrs. Mano now for her hospitality.

Mrs. Mano,
The song I mentioned is from a movie called Maya Bajar where a saappaattu piriyan (like me) enjoys lot of food, and sings that song !

Yes TamilNattan, in Maaya Bazaar, a beautiful scene of S V Ranga Rao acting as "Gadoatgajan", the son of Bheema. I used to see this movie again and again to enjoy this eating scene!
Can you think of so many Tamil films in which coffee is given importance. The old "Edirneechal" is one!

>>Can you think of so many Tamil films in which coffee is given importance. <<
There;s an old movie (black and white) where Manorama wins a lottery and so stops being a servant. She carries around Bournvita in a flask instead of coffee (as a symbol of her new status I guess), eventually I think she and hubby (thengai??) become paupers once again and she starts being a servant again. anyone remembers the movie?
I love manorama's coffee ads :)

Hi Mrs.Mano,
Different coffee beans are combined in varying proportions to be ground into coffee powder - like peaberry, robusta etc. (hope i've spelt them right); could you tell which beans should be ground in what ratio, to get the best tasting coffee ? Many thanks in advance.

HI
Take 300grams of P.B. Pure, 200 grams of Plantation and add 50 grams of Robusta (if you want a little bitter taste) or add 50grams of Chicory instead of Robusta. Grind them for filter and use in traditional filter or coffee makers. This is how we enjoy good freshly brewed coffee
