I took powdered milk to be safe for my boy. You could try that for him too. Look around for fortified products like Sustagen, if you have them in the US.
Are you the same Sujatha with the Yahoo Annamalai group? Just curious!

I don't think you have any cause for concern as long as you feed the child boiled milk, home-made food and boiled water. I wouldn't take a ton of things from the USA if I were you.

yeah these people forget where they came from. please stop acting like u landed from heaven and ur baby is too precious to eat indian food or drink the milk in india. i have a kid too and she was fine eating what my mom cooked for her and the milk that our doodhwala brought. only thing i had to be careful about was the water. my parents got us the big cans of mineral water... and she was healthy and happy the whole trip. please dont make such a big fuss.. u will come across as arrogant. people in india have babies too... they dont import food for them. they eat food from india and they turn out ok.

My daughter is 4 1/2 years old. She has gone thrice to India. I took some foods which are familiar to her in USA. Oatmeal in cups, instant oatmeal, juice boxes, cookies (in individual packs), peanut butter, jelly, cereal ( what she liked). I offered her the food cooked in the house and if she did not like it then what I had taken. Bread is available. SHe did okay. I am now planning another trip.

There is nothing wrong in asking because this summer we had a trip to India. My 6 yrs old son had some potato chips from a bakery. And all of a sudden, he had severe vomitting, then, came to know from the dr. that it was because of bacterial infection; the dr. specifically asked whether he had anything from outside and the temperature was also like 103 or something terrible experience!!
Anyways, have homemade food, boiled and filtered water, then, there will be nothing to worry at all. You can enjoy your vacation very well.
