Hello Hemanth's fan,
I am not very happy because you have written HEMANTH'S FAN,I request you to please desist from such Hero worship.
I am just a simple man trying to know intricacies of good cooking.I am just another student like you.Only difference being I am a senior student.
There are equally good if not better cooks contributing on Forum Hub.
Late.Mrs Soma, Mrs Mano, Funcook , CI and others to name a few are there who are masters in their own right.
Coming back to GUNPOWDER, I found that the recipe got deleted by oversight. Some two or three more recipes got deleted similarly.I have asked Ketan to upload the same today.
So happy cooking.

Contd from last posting...........
I should not forget Chitra in Kerala Thread who is giving some of the most authantic Kerala recipes . What we do not have is an Andhra corner.
I am filling the gap with my recipes till someone helps us out with Andhra cuisine.
I would also be thankful is we get someone from Malyasia to give Malay-Tamil recipes. So should Lanka -Tamil recipes.

Hello Mr.Hemant!
Thanks for the praise showered on me. But I think I am still in the learning process. I remember here a famous tamil quotation ‘ katrathu kaimannalavu, kallaathathu ulagalavu’.
Moreover, I wish to tell you something. By yr simplicity, kind approach and down-to-earth nature, you deserve to have so many ‘Hemant fans!

Ooops AJ, your above response should've been meant for ':)' alias 'Punnahai' (i think). Leave alone doubts of any sort, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in anybody's name, mail id or family. My remarks were only a casual observation & were meant to be just that!
Take it easy pal.

Hello H'SF and AJ,
I looked high and low in my floppies and my system. It seems that after I came to USA, my daughter did House cleaning and washed away all recipes.
So today, I sat thro' archives of FORUM HUB and clicked old responses in my thread till I reached GUNPOWDER.
I am re-posting the recipe.
Hope you like it.
Mrs.MANO had a doubt in this recipe, please let me know Mrs.Mano what you wanted to know.
Telugu actress the thespian mother in law of Telugu screen Late Surya Kantham Garu (My land lady in CIT colony ) was not only a fire belcher on the screen but off the screen , was a fire eater. Her food was not for the soft hearted and soft tongued mortals. She would cook Puliodhirais and other items when she was free and her measurement would be fistful of red chillies.God !!!.She used to sprinkle this red powder on rice and enjoy.Vow.!! It used to be really great. But when you try this, be careful of AFTER SHOCKS.!!!
GUNPOWDER II version
GARLIC PEPPER POWDER
INGREDIENTS
Garlic 100 gms (three medium pods)
Pepper corns 1 tbsp
Pottu Kadalai/fried Gram Dhall 2 to 3 spoons.
Red Chillies 8 to 10 nos
Copra grated 1cup
Curry leaves 2 sprigs
Tamarind 1 marble
Salt to taste (2 spoons)
METHOD OF PREPARATION
Clean Garlic, destalk Chillies (don't remove seeds).Grate a deccicated (half) copra.light fry the chillies and curry leaves in a drop or two of oil or dry roast.Similarly fry dhall in a drop of oil till brown.
Divide tamarind in small portions. Now powder all the ingredients to a smooth consistancy first. When done, add this powder to grated copra and again check for salt and hotness, if needed add black pepper and chilli powder to taste.
Mix in a mixi jar and pack in a glass container.
This powder goes well with rice mainly with Rice but tastes good with dosai and adais.Use with groundnut oil or ghee.
You can use roasted Gingly powder in place of kadalai or dhall .
Try and tell me .You would love it.
Please send me your feedback. It is very important to me and us.

Mr.Hemant!
The recipe of gun powder which I have noted down from yr previous website goes like this:
Ingredients needed:
2sp ghee, 350gm pottukkadalai, red chillies-10-15,garlic flakes 75-100gms.
fry pottukkadalai, garlic and red chillies in ghee seperately. Grind coarsely with garlic flakes and salt. It tasted delicious.
I have asked you whether I have to fry garlic in ghee in the 'garlic and pepper powder ' recipe also.

Hello Mrs.Mano,
Yes , in this recipe, you have to light fry Garlic along with pottu Kadalai.
In the next Gun powder version, similar light frying has to be done along with pottu kadali/dhall.
Thanks for bringing the mistake to my notice.
