Hello Peter,
This is for the first time I am seeing a Rasam Recipe without either the Black pepper or Jeera.
How would it taste? I wonder.
Should try out.

Hemant, we also don't put black pepper or jeera for normal rasam, we use the same only to make pepper-jeera rasam.
daily rasam is made by boiling in puli tanni, tomato, turmeric pd, asafoetida, rasam powder(or sambar powder) and finally adding boiled, mashed tur dal, curry leaves and corainder.
seasoning, mustard in ghee. believe me, it tastes lovely. this is the recipe passed on to me by my MIL, who learnt from her MIL!!

I have always had rasam with jeera and whole black peppers whenever I had the flu. Does normal Rasam also work.

do you all want to know about one instant rasam which needs no rasas powder? we call it father's rasam, since my dad invented it.
grind together one tomato, one pod of garlic, little jeera, pepper, coriander seeds, red mirchi powder and little tamarind. add haldi and bring to boil. When this solution slightly thickens, dilute it according to taste, with enough water and add salt. Temper in ghee just a little methi. it is mouth watering to even write about it.
