You need not "PRODUCE" tears while cutting small/big onion? I know the way. Am waiting for three persons "please..please"answer. After that I will tell you the way. Or persons know answer for this may respond.

You can freeze onions for a few minutes before cutting.
You can hold a matchstick with your lips when you cut onions. The gas from the sulphur(or whatever contained in the matchstick) doesn't let the onion gas come to your eyes
Put a piece of small onion on the tip of your knife(granma's way)
Or you wear plain eyeglasses when u cut onions. :)))

Hello Nadhini,
Take a large glass/metal bowl of water.
Take each onion and cut it under water.
The process will be TEARLESS.

Well, Aarthi, I haven;t tried that trick yet. ok? I saw it in a magazine. I normally cut the onions in half after peeling, and keep them in the freezer for 10 mts. Then I start slicing. But sometimes when I have a lot of onions to chop, I am doing it in a food processor. No tears!

WHEN YOU START CUTTING ONIONS, JUST LIGHT-UP A CANDLE AND KEEP IT ALONG WITH THE CUTTING TRAY. THATS ALL.

I usually use a food processor too!
Next time, I'll try the candle. I'm wondering why the gas does not work the same way coz I usually have the gas on when i'm cooking.

To help stop tears, chill an onion 30 minutes before peeling. Start cutting the onion from the neck first and use a stainless steel knife (not iron). The onion will be stronger flavored at the root end. Cut onions can be placed in sealable plastic bags and kept in the refrigerator for several days

When cutting onions, I find that dabbing your knife with rubbing alcohol helps prevent tears.

Rub olive all over your body. This helps to trap the gases from the onion.
