nasi padang bean curd dish - need the recipe or name

I had tried a bean curd dish in Singapore that was slightly sweet and spicy at a nasi padang restaurant. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find an indian restaurant that serves it in Canada. Does anyone know the name of the dish or have a recipe I can try?

I guess you are referring to 'sambal lodeh', its an Indonesian dish. Try an Indonesian or authentic Malaysian restaurant.

thank you very much. I've been able to find a few recipes on the 'net since you've given me the name. Unfortunately, Toronto, Canada, where I live hasn't any true Indonesian or Malaysian restaurants (lots of other good ones though). However, with all the great Indian and Asian food markets I should be able to get all of the ingredients. Thanks again

Remember the Priya song - Ennuyir nee thaane? KJJ sings, "Awak cantik macam bunga raya, jangan lupa sama saya." Meaning you are as pretty as the hibiscus (national flower), do not forget me. :)

Sundar - I don't have the complete lyrics and whatever I write below is from my memory only. (The pronunciation and the grammar in the Malay lyrics are atrocious by the way. :))
Hati aku suka awak (The heart likes you)
Lalu aku chinta awak (And then I fell in love)
Saya pandang diri mu (I look at you)
Berhari hari hidup kan (and live every day)
.....
Hati mu pada ku (Your heart is with me)

I think the lyric goes like this:- As-It-Is
I'm not realy very sure of the 'wah' part, whether its 'awak'(you) as NOV mentioned, or rather 'wah' was added to smoothern the melody ;-)
hati(heart) aku(I) suka(like/love) wah
selalu(always) aku(I) cinta(love) wah
saya(I) pandang(see/look) diri(self) mu(you)
saya(I) berhari-hari(daily) hidup(life) kau(you)
...
awak(you) cantik(beautiful/pretty) macam(like/such as) bunga(flower) raya(happy/grand) (ps:as one word it refers to hibiscus flower)
jangan(dont) lupa(forget) sama(with) saya(me)
...
hati(heart) kita(our) tidak(not) dua(two) dua(two)
orang(person/people) sajalah(only) dua(two) dua(two)
Feel free to correct me ;-))

Correct.
It is actually 'awak' which is joined together with the end of the preceding word, 'suka' and goes....'sukaawaak'. The 'k' is rather silent.
The resultant...
aththiyakku chukaawaaaaaa.....
slaalu aku chintaawaaaaa......
Ever heard of the 'B' silent story?

Vijay & Dr. Jaybee - ROTFL. :)
It is not selalu but lalu, meaning and then.
BTW, Jency's pronunciation was totally indisernible. I am surprised to this day why IR used KJJ instead of M Vasu for the song.
OK, what is silent B? :)

nallore nattore periyore saanrore,
nanri nanri..
No wonder my malaysia/singapore friends thought I was completely nuts, I only had the "B silent" pronunciations to go by. Oh jeez! I actually had to go into the first few lines of "negara ku tunatampanyah ku" for one top be convinced taht I wasn't just making random noise up and calling it Malay =)

I believe this is a tamil forum..malay language belongs to their own (if they have the intellect to create one) e-forum. You guys will not bother to learn malay if only you know how they(malays) treat out language. They poke fun at our language.
Their food is as simple as they are...the main dish ..chilli paste with shrimps. Get the little red pepper chillis, ground onions and ground shrimp. Fry the paste in oil. Voila.add your own dishes like green vegetables fried fish whatever is edible if good for you...
