Take a big brinjal. Roast it on fire (if u have an oven u can use it in the broiler mode and keep the brinjal near the fire in the top) until the outer skin is fully charred. Peel the outer skin.
Fry red chillies, urad dhal (uluttam paruppu) and channa daal (kadalai paruppu) and grind these first in a blender. Mash the cooked brinjal and add this powder and salt and its ready to serve. While eating , add nalla ennai (sesame oil) to the rice and it will taste great.
P.S: This method does not have onions added. U can also fry onions and grind them with the red chillies and dhals.
