Does anyone know from what ingredients or how kala namak is manufactured in india? What is its exact chemical composition and nutritional benefits/harmful effects?

Kala Namak or Black Salt is not actually black, but pinkish orange in color. This is unrefined mineral salt form widely available in India, mostly used in chats and salads. This is used as a stool softener and is a remedy for constipation, but too much of its use may end up with diarrhea or loose motion. Hypertensive patients are also advised to substitute the common sea salt to this kalanamak, again too much of use wud cause low BP. it gives you a tanhy sulfrous taste. since it is not refined, it is not the purest form...and remember there are two forms of it available in the market..ask for the edible kalanamak.
