There is nothing called good or bad oil (I mean in edible oils). It is how your body react to it (storage of fat in the body) which causes the problem.

oil is fine as long as you are within limits. olive oil has less saturated fat compared to other oils, so it's slightly less harmful. your daily intake of fat based on a 2000 cal diet should not be more than 65g of which saturated fat should not be any more than 20g.. this is about 4-5 tbsps of oil (assuming that you are not eating any other junk). read more about this... and maintain healthy eating habits if you want to stay healthy for as long as u live...

Good oil for your health is canola oil or olive oil. Both of them have the ability to raise you HDL (high density lipoproteins)in your blood. HDL is considered the "good" cholesterol.

CANOLA OIL - Danger !!!???
Olive oil comes from olives, peanut oil from peanuts, sunflower oil from sunflowers; but what is a canola?
Canola is not the name of a natural plant but a made-up word, from the words "Canada" and "oil". Canola is a genetically engineered plant developed in Canada from the Rapeseed Plant, which is part of the mustard family of plants. According to AgriAlternatives, The Online Innovation, and Technology Magazine for Farmers, "By nature, these rapeseed oils, which have long been used to produce oils for industrial purposes, are... toxic to humans and other animals".
Rapeseed oil is poisonous to living things and is an excellent insect repellent. I have been using it (in very diluted form, as per instructions) to kill the aphids on my roses for the last two years. It works very well; it suffocates them. Ask for it at your nursery. Rape is an oil that is used as a lubricant, fuel, soap and synthetic rubber base and as a illuminate for color pages in magazines. It is an industrial oil.
It is not a food.

Dear Suhera,
That is something I didn't know, although I never tried that oil before now I know I'll never will.
I usually use sunflower oil for indian dishes or gingely oil when the recipe asks for it. For other recipes I use olive oil. I have a lot here since my relatives and some friends make it.
I would like to thank you for all the useful information you keep adding to this forum and the delicious recipes, too.
Thanks also Dr. Usha for the information you gave.
