For the last two months, I have unsuccessfully been trying to roll out the chappati into a round shape. Can somebody give me tips on how to go about solving this problem. Thanks.

Hello Ray,
I am posting the following link from my website.
Please follow the instructions and make soft, round Rotis/Chappathis/Phulkas .All of them are round Indian Breads.

Dear Hemant,
Thank you for your response. But my main problem is how to get that chappati into a round shape. I've tried everything, rolling only on one side, in a circular motion, nothing works. My late mother was very good at it, unfortunately I never learn the art from her. Can you help?. Thanks.

Hello Ray,
Make round spheres of dough and lightly press them when you are going to roll the dough.Make roughly round flat small pancake shapes of 2.5 inches dia.Roll dip lightly in dry flour on both sides and press and roll with rolling pin.Once you press and roll, turn the flat dough 90 degrees and use the same rolling.
Keep doing this and after some time of trial and error, you would get round shaped flat Rotis.

Learning to make chappathis correctly circular is like learning cycling and swimming. There is no theory class. You have to try many times until you get it right!
