Hello everyone !
I have searched the internet far and wide but could not find a decent website that describes an easy to follow menu system for weight management goals ESPECIALLY FOR SOUTH INDIANS.I am specifically looking for nutrition information of different south indian food items and also ingredients. If you are in the nutrition, dietetics field or if you are an avid collector of such information please post them here. I am sure it would be helpful to a lot of people. Thank you very much !

i disagree with the low carb diet.
carb can no way get converted to fat.japanese eat a very high carb diet but not only do they have excellent health in the world but also they have a great longevity rate.
the basic idea is to eat eveything but less of it.Buy sensible food and not to binge on fatty food.

low carb diets definitely work. i know more than one person who has lost over 40 lbs on low carb diets. But for an average indian it is difficult to stick to a low carb diet, unless u really love meat and can manage without rice/bread/roti/pasta/.... i think the combination of a low calorie diet and exercise would work best. Weight watchers is exellent for prople who eat indian food as it helps you keep track of what's being consumed and helps you stay in control.

Rakhi,
Can you tell me the qty of rice you consumed per day per meal (if you consumed any at all?)
Also, does anyone know of a sure shot way to firm up flabby tummy from 2 pregnancies? I had one c-section and one normal delivery and was discouraged by the doc from wearing a maternity belt or doing ab exercises until 3 months.. I also hear from a few people that the pregnancy pouch (as they call it) will never go away. Any advise from experienced folks will be greatly appreciated.
Also, how to incorporate protein rich food into a vegetarian south indian diet? (Beware - I have people around me who are really nice.. but turn into diet enemies :))
Just looking for a practical way to shape up amidst managing a family of 2 kids, a full time job and in-laws at home. :)

Dear Rakhi,
Good job..!! Its a wonderful information which you are sharing with us.For Indians it's really tuff to follow Atkins or South beach diet.I am unable to go with these diets because both contains more of meat and cheese.I like your way of making that easy. Thanks for encoraging people who get confused with dieting. and OF course exercise is a must..
THanks
Devi
