Hi,
I have some guests coming over tomorrow and they want to have south indian dinner. I am confused what to make as they are expecting dosa idli and other tiffin items and not sappadu.
any ideas wht i can prepare? i thought of making rava idli, masala dosa and sambar. but this seems less. should i make vadai also? and for starters and dessert i cant think of anything.
suggestions are welcome.

If your quest are expecting tiffin items, the menu you have sounds good. You could probably make Vadai or Bonda/ Coconut chutney and paruppu payasam with coconut milk as dessert.
Paruppu payasam:
Channa dal - 1 cup
Cardamom - 1/2 tsp
Ghee - 3 tsp
Coconut milk - 1/2 cup
Jaggery - 1/2 cup (pieces)
Pressure cook channa dal with enough water. Add 1/4 cup water to jaggery and melt. Stir jaggery into cooked and mashed channa dal over medium heat. Add coconut milk. Let it boil for a couple of minutes. Add cardamom and ghee. (You could roast cashews and add along with ghee)
God luck

This sounds good. I'll make paruppu payasam.
I think I'll make bajji for starters,
then main course, idli, masala dosa, vadai sambar and chutney.
I hope I get fresh coconut in my indian shop...
Thanx for the ides both of you.
