  Cheera thoran is made with moringa leaves. It is very simple to make. For a cup of moringa leaves take half a cup of chopped onions and four number vertically split green chillies. Coconut oil 5 teaspoons. Salt to taste. Mustard seeds two teaspoons. Urad dal two teaspoons. A pinch of turmeric powder.
  In a dry kadaai pour the oil and heat. Add mustard seeds and when they splutter reduce flame and add in the urad dal. When they become pink, add in the chopped onions and saute well. Then add in the split chillies. Then the moringa leaves. Add just enough water so that the leaves are half immersed in water. Add salt and turmeric powder and allow to cook in simmering heat. The water should get completely evaporated and the leaves should be cooked well. Add little more oil (a teaspoon more) if needed and fry by constant stirring. You have thoran. (Malayalam word "thoran" means that from which water is evaporated).

  In TamilNattan's style of transliteration it is to be written as 'tOran'.(the O should be long, the r and n light) The towel used by Mallus for bathing is called 'tOrttu' or 'that which dries water'.'tOruka' in Malayalam means water to be taken out. 'Mazha tOrnnu' means 'rain has poured and stopped'.

  No. Thooravathu means pouring/drizzling in Tamil. This is "thOarunnathu" which is drying out.

  Cheera and Muringa are diffrent. but prepration is same. but in the case of muring is not used in the season "karkitakam" (july-august)
