Can somebody please post the recipe for Fish fry.
I searched on the web, and each recipe used different ingredients. I would prefer to shallow fry to cut the oil.
Thanks in advance

Here's a red chillie paste recipe. Not sure if you like the taste of viniger. Normally this paste is ground in large quantities and used over a period of six months.
250 gms of dried red chillies (Karnataka or Andhra ones) Washed and sun dried.
Jeera - 1 heaped teaspoon
Garlic flakes 10 nos
Turmeric stick 2 nos
(use turmeric powder if not available)
Sea salt 2 heaped tablespoons (or more)
Viniger 3 tablespoons
Boiled and cooled water- as required
Cooking oil 2 tablespoons (heated and cooled)
Grind dried red chllies, garlic flakes, turmeric powder, salt and cummin seeds with the viniger and alittle of the boiled and cooled water to a fine thick paste. Don't make it watery. Check for taste and add more viniger and salt. It should have a nice pungent salty sourish taste. bottle in sterilized bottle. Pour heated and cool oil on top and close lid tight. Use in small quantities when required.

This is another recipe for fish fry
Chilly powder
turmeric
asafoetida- a pinch
ginger, garlic, shallots and curry leaves- grind to a smooth paste
salt
Rub all these above ingredients with very little lime juice over the fish pieces, marinate for 30 minutes and then you can put it in small ziplock bags and keep in freezer. It will be good for 2-3 months.

Hello Kav,
I too searched web and finally thought i would make my own. Here's how i prepared,
Fish pieces - 4 nos (any fish suitable for fry)
Grind together 3 small onions(shallots), 5 garlic flakes, 1 inch piece ginger, 1/2 spoon coriander powder, little turmeric powder, 1 tsp chilli powder or to your taste and 3/4 sp fennel powder to a fine paste and apply on the washed fish pieces with required salt and allow it to marinate for 2 hrs and then fry them. You can either shallow fry or deep fry them.
It came out well for me. Good Luck!

FISH FRY:
Fish pieces-8 to 10 medium pieces.
Wash the fish pieces and coat them with 1 to 2 tbsp chilli powder, 1sp turmeric powder and enough salt. After half an hour, the following ground masala could be applied on them.
Grind one handful shredded coconut, 2tsp fennel seed, 1tbsp ginger paste, 1tbsp garlic paste, and 6 small onions to a fine paste. After applying the masala on the fish pieces., let the fish pieces soak in it for 2 hours before frying them in hot oil.

Thanks Rathi, KH, Seema and 'Fried fish'
I tried a recipe of my own which turned out pretty good too.
tilapia - 2 fillets - cut into 2x2inch pieces
ginger garlic paste - 1-2 tsp
turmeric powder - .5 tsp
red chilli powder - 1 tsp
coriander powder - .5 tsp
lemon juice - 2 tsp
curry leaves - 4-5 cut into small bits
salt
Make a paste of above ingredients, apply to fish. Marinate for 15 min, and fry on pan. I used PAM, it turned out good. I also used the marinated fish again the next day.
