Are canned sardines in oil or anchovies (canned) that we get in the U.S. equivalent to Karuvaadu? Can I use this for making Karuvaadu kuzhambu?

Hi
In chinese stores or Asian shops we can get karuvadu like the ones which we get in India.
You can make kuzhambu with those dry fishes.
thanks
