You had written in one of the threads that vegetables should not be overcooked. I fully agree with you. Not only do they lose their colour, a lot of vitamins in them are also destroyed by overcooking. Many a time vegetables are cooked till they become a mushy something.
To move onto something else, I would like the recipe for a particular chutney which requires channa dal, tomatoes and red chillies. I do not know the name of that chutney, but if you have the recipe for that particular chutney, I would be very happy. My husband would be happier still !
Thank you.

Thank you Dharani. Nice of you to help out even though the original query was directed to someone else.
By the way, I like your name. It is very pretty and feminine.

Dharani means "Earth". The person's full name
may me "DharaniDharan" or mostly "DharaniVasu".
(Lord Vishnu, as he carries Earth as one of his
consorts). Though Dharani alone is faminine it is a very rare name given to girls.

I knew Dharani meant "Earth" but that was interesting information - "DharaniDharan" and "DharaniVasu" (Lord Vishnu, carrying Earth as one of his consorts).
Yes, Dharani is a rare name for girls, though not uncommon. Dharini too.
As usual, I seem to be digressing, but I think it is all right. Every bit of information, in culinary art, literature, mythology or in any other of the 64 other art forms will contribute towards preserving our rich heritage. So thank you Ramadas.
Hemant, hope to see your recipe soon. Don't feel bad about not having followed up. Your expertise is always looked forward to.

Sorry, not 64 "other" art forms, just 64 disciplines of art.

Hi Mr. Hemantji
Thanks for your response to my query for Cucumber Gotsu. But when I was searching, I could find only the Thayir Pachchadi. The one I need is made with thick tamarind juice, jaggery and other spices. I do not think it is cooked. If you can, please post it. Another query, what is Odichu kadalai? I could not figure out in the Gun powder Rice receipe. I want to make it. Can you please explain?
Best wishes for happy Yugadhi and New year and Vishu.
