Is Lemon Pickle better than Mango pickle?

I always had a liking for Mango pickle because these are very rarely prepared in my house. We had a lemon shrub at our garden and the availability of lemon pickles were almost perennial. The supply/demand ratio made me opt for mango pickle. But coming to taste of Priya's, Ruchi's and other no name brands, I think lemon is better now. It also has lot of medicinal qualities as opposed to the heat 'generating' mangoes. Nevertheless, for those sour mouthed professionals, I will still suggest a lemon... The tingy taste lingers on and on like the Kamal Vs Rajini debate :0

Can somebody posta simple recipe to make good lime pickles at home?
Does this work in any weather?
Does it work with green limes or the yellow ones?

5 lemons
lots of sea salt
Optional: {any spice(s) you want to add to the salt and in any quantity you wish}
Cut the lemons in eighths lengthwise
Take a clean glass bottle and put a layer of salt mixture at the bottom.
Next put a layer of lemon slivers.
Alternate with salt until you reach the top.
Seal the bottle(jar) and leave it for 90 days. Shake it every alternate day.
Your pickle is ready. Once opened refrigerate.

To your other 2 queries.
Weather does not matter.
You can use green limes, get the very big ones you can get, and to make them yellow add tumeric to the salt.
After your first success using only salt, you can add spices and or firm vegetables for your next pickle using all or some of those suggested e.g.
tumeric, cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon sticks, dry basil, thyme, oregano, etc etc
Avoid powder forms of the above except for the tumeric
Fresh cilantro, basil, thyme, oregano, etc etc
sticks of carrots, celery, radish, turnips, green & red peppers, green & rd chillies etc etc

Lime pickle
Fresh lime(large size, thin skin, ripe) - 6
Cut into medium pieces.(Preseve the juice while cutting). Add salt- 4 spoons, red chilli powder - 4 spoons, asafoetida - 1/2 spoon and mix well.
Next day add 1/4 cup of sesame oil and leave it aside.
Third day, add mustard seeds to 4 spoons of oil and when it splatters add fenugreek seeds and asafoetida. Add this to the pickle and mix.

Hello Elumichaidhasan,
Just buy or make lemon Pickle with only Turmeric and salt with a dash od Perungayam which is available in the market.I will show you a way to make the simplest lemon pickle most tasty.
INGREDIENTS
500 gms of any simple lemon pickle
3 Spoons of Jeera powder
1 spoon of Fenugreek seeds, coarsly Powdered
after lightly roasting in oil.
1 Spoon of Black pepper powder
1 spoon of Red Chilli powder
1 spoon of Asfoetida powder
1 Spoon of Black Rock salt powder.
Add all the ingredients to the pickle you buy and add 1 spoon of Mustard seed after crackling in 2 to 3 spoons of oil.
Mix thoroughly and ENJOY !!!!with Rice or Roti or Parothas.

LEMON PICKLE IN A DIFFERENT STYLE AND TASTY WAY!!
Cut into small, desired amount of good ripe yellow lemons, mix it nicely with salt (or boiled and cooled salt water), thin strips of ginger, and few green chilles cut.
Enjoy with rice and curd.
