How do we remove the dirt out of tamarind before using it for cooking? Is there a possibility of dirt in tamarind. normally, when we use vadikatti it does not filter the dirt. Can someone clear my doubt?

Separate the pods and hold it under running water while rubbing it gently with your fingers. Then place it in half a cup of water and quickly swirl it around. Remove the pulp from the water, you'll notice sand at the bottom of the cup. Soak once again and usea tea strainer to filter the pulp.
