can anyone tell me the difference between the two and which is best for what kind of preparation

  MTR instant rasam mix has dhal and seasonings(mustard seeds etc)Just boil 1 part to 4 parts water and cook with lots of ripe tomatoes. Garnish with coriander and some ghee.
  Rasam powder is what you use to make it from scratch.
