There are different kinds of pressure cookers. If you are using aluminum pressure cooker, then it is better to use another vessel insert made of stainless steel to actually cook the food. They have found out a link between cooking the dishes in the aluminum vessel and Alzhimer's disease.
Anodized aluminum is better but it is very expensive. Stainless steel cookers are better as you can cook the food directly in the cooker so it saves you time and energy. SS pressure cookers are also cheaper than the anodized aluminum cookers.

If you are using the pressure cooker for the idlis, do not use the cooker weight.
For toor dhal, add twice the water especially if you are making sambar or rasam.
For rice, the water should be twice the volume of rice.

I have newly come to Texas. Could not bring pressure cooker with me. Here it is terribly expensive. Can anyone tell me where I can get a reasonably priced one? I am working on a limited budget.
