diff between flour

hi,
what is the diff between selfrising flour,all purpose flour and plain flour

Hi Charulatha,
Self-rising flour is all-purpose flour with added salt and leavening (baking powder).
In recipes that call for self-rising flour they would not mention to add baking powder.but when recipes use all purpose flour they also add baking powder.
You can buy self rising flour or make your own self-rising flour
for 1 cup self rising flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
a pinch of salt.
Mix well and seive once or twice so it gets mixed well and store in an airtight container.

Hi , please can Kz or somebody tell me what does seiving mean...how do we do it... is it the same thing we do with salladai. please somebody clarify.

This has been a life saver for me, my son has to have to types of Greek food made for school tomorrow and of course I was one ingredient short until I found this site. CousCous is made but I needed Self Rising Flour to make the Theepless. Again thanks.
