i lived in madurai for a year, and miss the food terribly... our cook used to make the most delicious sambar with something in it called "drumsticks," a long green vegie which would soak up the spices and become very tender inside, and we'd scrape the insides out with our teeth. does anyone know what the real name of this veggie is, and where one can get it in the u.s.? and does anyone have a good recipe for it? thanks!

hallo idli addict,
you pronounced that veggie name is correct, ie. 'drumstick', you can get any Indian Stores all over in U.S., we are using only in frozen drumstick., yet we didnt get the fresh one., we also came from Madurai.
