Thanks Mallika for your detailed and quick response. I really appreciate your opinion.
One of my friend here in US uses Summeet and her experience is great with it. Now i have to make a choice between two brands. While being in India, i have used Summeet and grown up with it. But i do not mind looking at other brands and hence asking people's opinion on it.
Would post my message here if i have any more questions with Preethi. Otherwise would let you once i buy it and use it.
Thanks a lot !
Dipti

Purva,
We sell Ultra grinders in 110V for USA and Canada and we have 220V grinders for anywhere else in the world. These are the best and number one grinders in India and USA. We just not sell the appliances but we give you solutions for authetic Indian cooking. You can check our website http://innoconcepts.com
to Dipti,
We have Innomix made by Meenumix the first company in India to get ISI for the mixies. They are very attractively priced at $127.99. The 550W motor is powerful to handle toughest jobs. The jar coupler is made of tough plastic and it will not wear out like a rubber coupler. There are three different jars to handle different jobs - wet grinding, dry grinding and small quantity grinding. The other advantage is you can choose the speed to high or low in ine touch from the off position with the dual directional switch. In most of the mixies, you have to go from zero to 1, then 2 and then 3 and then back to 2, 1, zero. Snap on lids make it easier to add or remove the ingredients. For more details http://www.innoconcepts.com/meenumix.htm.

Please beware of getting the wet grinders to UK. I bought it via Andal Balu's firm (Innoconcept). Two weeks later I had a tax bill of another £60 odd pounds from courier as they pay for clearance from customs. So the price you deal is not the price you pay finally if you get the grinder from Innoconcept. Both the parties (seller & courier) just say afterwards that they are helpless afterwards! Best will be to get it from India in your next visit or try London shops.

When we quote the price for the grinder for outside USA, we clearly mention that it is CIF (Cost, Insurance, freight) price and that the customer is responsible for any duties and taxes. Since each country has different system for duties and taxes, unfortunately, we or the courier have no control over it. If you contact your local customs broker, they might be able to give you an idea as to how much the duties are going to be.

I am planning to take my Sumeet mixer to London from India. Do I need to get it coverted to 110 Volts (what is the voltage used in UK)? Will spare parts be easily available there? Do I have to pay any customs?

The voltage used in UK is 220V. But they have different plug point than what is in India. YOu have to buy the adaptor plug and use your 220V machine.

i'm looking for something like a grinder available in the u.s. but not as expensive- i would only be using it to satisfy an occasional idli/dosa craving, so it's not worth 100+ dollars... can anyone recommend a way to grind the ingredients without purchasing a super expensive mixie? thanks!

If you use cheap blenders to grind for dosa / idli, they will burn out faster. Before the Indian mixies came into the market, we all used the Osterizer. But we always bought 2 and kept one for back up. It kept burning up once in six months. If you calculate the cost of the mixie in the long run, Indian mixies are much cheaper as you use it for a long long time. Additional bonus is that the chutneys and pachadis taste a lot better because of the homogeneous grinding.
You can buy Innomix for $126.99, the cheapest price for a 550W Indian mixie from http://www.innoconcepts.com/meenumix.htm

Dear Bhavesh,
Ultra Grinders are number 1 selling grinder in India and USA. They are long lasting (we have been selling them for almost 12 years and our customers are still using them). They are very easy to use and easy to clean. You can take the grinding vessel separately and use it for fermenting the dough or to store the left over dough. You can buy them at http://innoconcepts.com
