sopna bharathi!
Thanks for responding with this message. :=)
1. Can you please describe what kind of problem you face while trying to instal the font - "TSC_Avarangal" - in your system ?
If you had just this single font - you can configure your browser(Internet Explorer) - to be able to show thamizh scripts.
If we could help it - we should be able to fix the problem - if you could give us some details.
2. You can download this font "TSC_Avarangal from this yahoo group called "santhavasantham" - easily!
All you need to do is join this yahoo group called 'santhavasantham".
Just click on this following link and it would ask you to sign up for this group - and you can easily sign up for this group using your yahoo ID
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/santhavasantham
From there go to the files section and download TSC_Avarangal font ('TSCAVA.ttf')
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/santhavasantham/files/
3. As you have requested - there is a tool to 'transliterate' all thamizh content to english and all english content to thamizh - called "TAMIZ1.exe" - which you can download from this link in the 'santhavasantham' yahoo group's file section.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/santhavasantham/files/
This tool is actually a transliteration tool - that is - it will help you to convert a text in thamizh to english script and vice versa!
Its such a cool tool!
And it doesnt involve any installation hazards too - just a breezy click-and-run tool it is! try it.
Remember the file to be downloaded from that link is 'TAMIZ1.exe'
REMEMBER - if you JUST downloaded this "TAMIZ1.exe" and saved it in your hard disk - and just click on it - NO need to install and all!
It would AUTOMATICALLY install a TSCII compliant font known as "TSCu_Paranar" - even if you dont have explicit write permission for installation of fonts in your system!!
The following is from the help file of this tool :
-----------------------------------------------------
Uthavi
----------
Features
--------------
1) Font is added to the windows font table; so you you need not have to have the font installed in order to use 'tamizh'...no problem even if you donot have 'WRITE' permission to the windows font directory
2) Even if you have closed the program, you can still use the TSCu_Paranar fontin your other text editors/word processors; just start and then close this.
Options
------------------
Transliterate as I type
------------------------------------------
With this feature turned on (which is by default turned on), whatever you type in english is converted and placed in tamizh in the tamizh textbox (the second textbox).
If you type in tamizh, it will be transliterated in english script and placed in the english textbox (the first textbox).
If your system has a very low memory resource, you better turn this feature off. You can always use the 'T' button to convert roman script to tamizh and 'E' button to convert the tamizh script to roman script (with Alt+T and Alt+E shortcut keys respectively).
Automatically Copy Text
----------------------------------------
The tamizh text is copied to the clipboard as you type, so that you can paste it in other applications immediately.
For example, you can type here and go to Yahoo Messenger chat window or MSN Messenger and can simply press Ctrl+V...
Readable Encoding
------------- -------------
When you are editing a file, this feature will be useful. For viewing a Roman Script text, you can turn this feature on so that you can see a readble version of what is there in TSCII...Otherwise, if you are editing a file, you can turn this off so that the an 'as is' conversion will take place.
Font Name
-------------------
By default "TSCu_paranar" is installed.
If, by any chance, the default font TSCu_paranar could not be used by this application..........Click the Font Name button and enter the appropriate font name (for example if you have 'TSC_Avarangal') - in the inputbox and press enter or click the 'OK' button on that box. That font will be used thereafter.
----------------------------
Try to install both 'TSC_Avarangal' font and this 'TAMIZ!.exe' tool from that yahoo group link i have given above.
PLEASE ask me if you have just any queries whatsoever.
