According to hindu mythology Parashurama the sixth avatara of lord Vishnu annihilated 21 Kshatriyas and wanted a place to perform his penance. The gods offered to give him a land of his choice. Parashurama hurled his axe over the sea and asked the sea to retreat over the area covered by the axe, the land emerged from those receding water and this how Kerala emerged.
But the festival of Onam is celebrated in honour of the great King Mahabali who was sent to the pathala by vamana, the fifth avatara of lord siva
So why is Onam celebrated in kerala which did not even exist during mahabalis days

In my knowledge, the ancestors of kerlites were the Chera-Munda people, who migrated from some other parts to Kerala and Tamil Nadu. In their folklore, there was one story related to one King called Bali, who had been defeated by the barbarian army of Krishna, for imprisoning his grandson, Anirudha for seducing Mahabali's daughter, Usha....Mahabli was ruling a city now called as ChotaNagpur.....when they migrated to Kerala and TN they carried this story and folklore with them, and in the passage of time, the story might have changed a lot....i think this can probably answer the conspiracy...anyway, the story of Mahabali gives the hint that the terms Asura and Deva were the creations of Aryans...we Dravidians were being considered as Asuras and they themselves portrayed them as Devas...and the Mahabali story is the narration of the victory of Aryan culture over the Dravidian culture....that's why Mahabali is a good legend for south Indians and he is only an Asura King for the North Indians (Aryans...)

The Hero and Villian of any story depends on who is naratting it.
Not in all conflicts one is bad and other good. Especially if you see Hindu mythology asuras are given as much or more respect than devas. Just see the depiction of Ravana in Ramayana for instance.
Mahabali is said to have been a Good and loving ruler and it was jealosy from devas that led to his end

Hello,
I strongly believe in earlier ages and civilizations and that the cradle of them all was Kumarikandam, beleivably the now-for-over-14,000 years submerged landmass, possibly in the extended continental of India and beyond, in the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.
Anyway, coming to the point regarding Mahabali, I do not understand how it is "North vs South" or "Aryaa vs Dravida". For it was basically the Heavens vs Bhaarat. Mahabali possibly had his capital in or around present-day Kerala but ruled the entire human realm. Even "North Indian" versions allude to him as a very just and powerful king with a most wealthy and magnificient kingdom, and one who caused Indra himself to be jealous. In fact his only fault was that he superseded Indra. Vishnu too is shown like a yes-man of Indra, and anyway he incarnared himself as Vamana in DravidaNadu, so I find no element of the North coming into the picture. It was between Vishnu, Indra and Mahabali. But Dravida incl Mahabali's cities are shown as many times more magnificient than anything outside Dravida and in the North in the North Indian versions itself. And btw Mahabali is placed tens of thousands of years before Krishna.
Now, reg Kerala, the Parasurama Purana mentions that he retrieved/recreated/saved a land being usurped by the sea and not that he "created" it. Mahabali had already lived long before he did. Even today Kerala suffers from among the very highest rates of soil erosion due to the Sea.
Only Sandeep seems to have the right kind of thinking and its unfortunate that our scriptures are branded as "Aryan" or Hindu or North Indian and so on.
