Do the Iyers of Kerala marry or relate with Namboodiris? Do Kerala Iyers still marry Tamil Nadu Iyers?

  Hi Mani, how are you? Kerala Iyers (pattars) marry either Kerala Iyers or Tamil Iyers. Nambooiris don't consider them equal.

  Anyway, YES, I love Tamil movie songs, especially those sung by Hariharan! Very melodic. If you know links where I can find musical instruments from Tamil Nadu (village instruments), that would be awesome.

  HAS OUR OUTLOOK CHANGED
  Well I have always wondered why someone in India would
  ask if its a boy or a girlwhen a child is born?
  Generally, peolple are happy when a boy is born!!!I
  ALWAYS WONDERD WHY?
  
  
  I never felt the difference.My parents never
  differentiated between me and my brother.I got the
  best of education and my parents were with me ,
  supporting me.
  
  Now off late wisdom started dawning on me once i came
  out into this world from the protective shell of my
  parents.I was just talking to a very close friend of
  mine.I cannot tell my parents because i dont want to hurt them in this old age, they have
  done everything they could and also gave their best
  for my marriage ...Now i feel the difference and it
  pained me.I am an iyer and my inlaws are palghat iyers settled in cochin.My father in law is a lawyer .
  
  THERE IS A DIFFERENCE, A HUGE DIFFERENCE........and
  what is it...
  
  1) If you are a boy the girls family loves you adores
  you , you become a king...But no matter how educated a
  girl is and no matter how good her intentions are..she
  is nonexistent for the boy's family.If she tries to
  talk she is snubbed and illtreated.So the child is
  forced to keep quiet....
  
  2)If you are a boy nobody asks you how you are keeping
  the girl but the girl is asked what she is doing for
  the boy
  
  3)If the girl talks and mingles aroung in the family
  she is acting and trying to show she is good, if she
  keeps quiet then she is arrogant!!!WHAT OPTION IS LEFT
  
  4)Now comes the worst part once they come to know that
  you dont open your mouth no matter what they say, they
  stoop to such low levels of calling you names...Be
  ready
  
  5)Dont think staying away can help.Well thanks to
  Grahambell who invented phone and to the internet,
  they can harass you through mails and calls.I am in USA and my inlaws in cochin.But they still manage to spoil my peace of mind.They teach my husband wrong things about me.Ours was an arrange marriage and we are getting to know each other and in this situation they play dirty games.
  
  6)Sometimes staying with them helps they know they
  have to be with you so they dont say much but once you
  are away they dont mind upsetting you...And you better
  be good and quiet and not tell a word otherwise the
  whole family will know how evil you are
  
  7)Be ready for a lot of lies.They say lies in front of
  you and infront of their relatives.You cant argue at
  that time that you are lying because all are there.Ask
  them afterwards they will say it was only a joke!!!!Do
  you think the others would have thougth so.Well their
  aim was to show you down and thats done
  
  8)Be ready for rude words even to the extenet of your
  father in law calling you an ass!!!Even if he says he
  will tame you!!!And take my advice PLEASE DONT SAY
  ANYTHING...............If you do you are going to
  upset your mother in law.She will only say that you
  are making a mountain of a mole hill.You are the evil
  one , you havent taken them as parents!!!Worst part
  they brutally tell you that you still have to bear a
  child!!!!!(isnt that the worst comment)Well suddenly
  your father in law becomes a better evil than your
  mother in law.She turns out to be a silent killer.And
  the list goes on and on..
  Well had they taken us as daughters they wont torment
  us this way
  
  MY ADVICE KEEP QUIET THIS IS THE AGE OLD MANTRA ....IT
  WILL GIVE YOU PEACE OF MIND AND PROTECT YOU FROM THEM
  LABELLING YOU....NOTHING ELSE CAN BE DONE IN THIS
  WORLD
  
  It pains but i feel sorry to say no matter how well
  read a girl is and no matter how good she is, if she
  is sensitive then she should be ready to get
  hurt.....or very lucky to get a good inlaws(I know
  this world has good people too).
  
  In the end I would like to say that all of us are born
  in this world for a short period of time.We arent
  going to be here for ever. Do we know where we are
  going or where we are coming from?We never know our
  daughter in law could have been our daughter in last
  birth would we have treated our daughter that way?
  The worst sin in this world is to hurt another
  soul...In the end we are answerable only to GOD...Lets
  be good.
  We cannot please everyone at all times but atleast we
  can talk pleasingly.PLEASE DONT HURT ANOTHER SOUL!!!IT PAINS

  in olden days iyers married from nair families like nambuthiries but only from less powerful sections of nair family"kettan arumillangil pattan"(if nobody is there to marry then pattar)nambuthiries rarely married pattar girls.

  duniya dear i u'stand ur feelings.am a nair lady married into a nair family who have nambothiri blood in them but behave worse than ...don't know..i've been thru whatever u have gone thru and still live with them.my mil is dying feel sorry to see her suffer but can't seem to get over my hurt.

  i think the namboothiris and those with namboothiri blood in them are an arrogant lot.my fil always says that namboothiri are higher in class than the pattars.my great-grandfather was an iyer (kerala)who married my nair great-grandma.as far as i am concerned namboothiris have oppressed the others alot. the iyers are an enterprising lot.

  Nambodiris are of Satwic and lead pious life. They are alm givers. Many iyers were give assylam in namboodiri family in olden days that is why now iyers outnimber namboodiri in Kerala. Pl study Gita.
