Why no merit there?

The Sikhs constitute 4% of the Indian population but occupied once 10% of the posts in the defence services. That was really through merit and nothing but merit. But Indira Gandhi had issued orders in the year 1983 restricting their representation only to 4%.

The aggrieved Sikhs passed resolutions on many a forum condemning the racial nature of the order issued by her. What is more, Beant Singh, the Chief Minister of Punjab belonging to the same Congress Party had said, in the year 1992, that the restoration of the status-quo-ante was the most important demand to bring healing touch to the much-ravaged State. Thus the Brahmin oligarchy had ensured that, in the army, it is race, which is given primary importance and not merit. There were reasons both stated and unstated.

It was the apprehension of the policy makers, who were Brahmins, that if the Sikhs were more than 4% they would be able to do something favourable only for themselves which may be against the interests of others. They, therefore, connived and made provisions restricting the enrolment of Sikhs although the Sikhs had real merit.

But, the Brahmin policy makers did not care for merit, even when it came to the defence of the nation. They thought that their suspicion was more important and more valid than appointing meritorious soldiers to defend the nation against the enemies.

Now, accepting that the stand taken by the Brahminical oligarchy was correct and based on the correct and valid premise, we must arrive at the theory that every section of the executive would protect its own interest first and make use of the opportunity available to it through the posts occupied by it in the executive. This is the theory enunciated by the policy makers in 1983 and enforced by them by forsaking the national interests even in the matters of defence.

If that be case, will not the Brahmins who constitute only 3% of the population but occupy 85 –100% of the posts in the important central ministries (including the ones in the sensitive and secretive RAW, IB, etc., hijack the government itself to protect and preserve their own interests?

When pen is admittedly mightier than sword, won’t the Brahmins who occupy 90 – 100% of the posts pose more security hazard to the nation?
