Mohanlal’s big budget Onam release Thandavam has crashed miserably and some theatres in Kerala plan to dump the film even before the Thiruvonam Day (August 21)! On the second day after the release itself the collections started nose diving as the word of mouth spread that the film is lewd and boring. There are far too many sexy scenes that are nauseating and smutty dialogues that would put a Shakeela film to shame. So the lady audience are turning away from the cinema halls.

Mohanlal’s hatchet man Antony Perumbavoor immediately ordered that the introductory scene of the star in the massage parlour along with a few girls and some smutty scenes with Anusri be voluntarily cut from Thursday onwards. Still ladies are refusing to go to the theatres showing the film.

Johnny Sagarika, the producer of the film, will lose at least Rs 2 crores on this disaster of epic proportion.

  Frankly who cares if the film loses or gains? All I would care for, as a viewer of the shabbiest film ever in Malayalam history, is how indifferently a superstar can take his fans for a royal ride. Its indeed pathetic that we cry hoarse when Shakeela drops her clothes, and tolerate the crudest gestures, dialogues and scenes when mouthed by a yesteryear superstar! THANDAVAM is undoubtedly one of Mohanlal's filthiest films till date, and what he should take note is that the literate Malayali would remember him as much despisingly for THANDAVAM, as he had once affectionately embraced him for the star's family-friendly roles of the past! To cut it short, THANDAVAM is the grossest obscenity at its worst!

  i had a feeling it would flop...lal cant last like this...why wont he realize that?
  i havent seen thandavam..but i saw some ads in a magazine...just lookin at it makes me want to throw up...some "shakeela" look alikes in a dance with lal...who would have thought lal would come to this...

  it released in 54 centres. its a record in kerala
  & 2 theatres in 17 centres and 5 regular shows in these 14 centres.more than 2150 house full shows.
