Hate Prem Nazir

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.
Prem Nazir is the worst thing that could happen to Malayalam Films.
All he did was overacting.
The only reason for him to become sucessful was because there was no competition.
Malayalam actors in those days could do anything and people accepted it.
Just observe his acting and thats what it is ACTING whereas acting is supposed to be original and natural.
Also in those days vulgarity was at peak.
U can see Jayabharathi, Seema and co. wearing mini skirts and people goin crazy bout it. Well myself and my friends get erection while watching them.
Thats not Acting, it just body exposure to attract crowd.
Prem nazir and team were plain lucky to kiss and hold them.
Thats what it was in those days, only Fantasies.
Fortunately things changed and we have good directors like Sathyan Anthikad, Priyadarshan, Sibi Malayil etc.
Just observe there movies.
It looks so real that u can actually correlate yourself with those characters.
An unemployed Mohanlal struggling to find job and yet the comedy situations arising out of it is indeed a pleasure and privilege to watch.
Its MUCH MUCH better than watching Prem nazir fiddling with mini skirted Jayabharathy or fighting scene showing him doin somersaults and defeating 10 tough opponents. IT JUST SUCKS.
Well, tradition says that old was good.
But the fact is old malayalam movies were rather X rated vulgar movies.
Be bold and accept it.

If you happen to hear what your grand childern would say about Mohan lal & Mammootty, then you will regret what you said, Rahul. Tastes are always changing. You must not think that the malayali spectators had been such fools to allow him to be at the top for 30 years. During his time, cinema was just evolving out of drama. Naturally he acted that way.Can you site any other actor who would return some money to the producer if the movie completely failed?

mammootty, mohanlal overrated people by the confused inward lookin malayalees. Prem Nazir' class not rubbed off on anyone. Only other actor who had an equally great presence was Jayan and Sathyan.

Cannot believe that u include Jayan in the good actors list.
All you gotta do is watch the movies of Nasir and Jayan and then decide....was it acting or overacting. If doing some silly stunts with 20 people is good acting or cuddling Jayabharathi and Seema is good acting then they were really good.
It sounds cool to say, the old guys were good, but the reality is they were not, except for some good performance from Satyan and Madhu in that black and white era.
As Mukesh Harry rightly pointed out, Nasir was a good man but a poor actor...

cool saab, prem nazir did not need to act or perform, every other actor with the exception of pn acted, showed acting abilities, emotive prowess - any idiot with delusions can act. that is the point, saar. with due respect to the likes of sathyan or sivaji for these two actors who did not force personality over acting needs, i would say mammooty, lal, even jayan were delusional characters. the old days it was all simple man, these days it is all tyring hard to impress. art for art sake no more.

An uncomplicated actor, most down to earth human known to me! How can someone of this incredible talent, fame and abilities be so grounded? It is because Prem Nazir, a secural Moslem was most open minded, respectful, humble and followed spiritual laws to the final days on this confused planet!

If at all Prem Nazir had donated his vital fluid,
I am sure most of the MIDDLE AGERS OF KERALA
would have looked like him or bore his DNA

Rating Prem Nazir as a person to be hated by all is wrong. He was capable of leading a big industry by his own style of acting and hard work. Does any one think that all the Keralites of yesteryears were mere fools. In fact Prem Nazir entertained people who speak malayalam for a few decades. You just can't a Prem Nazir to born any where in world whom people can watch in movies up to 600 as its leading character.

Mamooty and Mohanlal are acting according to the
current times which does not encourage overacting.
But you cannot really blame nazir who acted to the
style of those days.At the sametime there were very good movies also like panitheeratha veedu
etc Try to see these movies .It seems that you have seen only some masala movies

nobody can understand nazir, he is very flexible actor but nobody utilised his talent except jijo.unbeatable performances in "Padayottam" against mohanlal, mamootty and all other actors in the movie "padayottam". now if we watching mohanlal's acting in padayottam, very bad and dramatic style and ghostti. the only reason is that the generation gap. nobody knows the real acting. acting is one of the arts

Nazir is immaculate, especially when he delivers literally epic lines non-stop flawlessly in a single frame in chaste malayalam, no wasted gestures, just stressing on key words at times. Other actors generally have to rely on so many additional gestures, force personality on the character.... nothin wrong, but Nazir' acting is extremely watchable repeatedly

absolutely!!!! unni quoted the true abt nazir...three decades he was the hero of malayalam movies, even at the age of 60s he acted as a hero in movies "dhwani" and "lal americayil"(the end of the era)..the intersting thing is he always bother abt the role he is going to act, not like other heroes in other languages..in kannad rajkumar just 2 year back played as a romantic lover with Jayaprada..even mgr too.. did nazir acted like that at any time.. in his most of the color movies he acted as a family hero, not a lover...it is only bcoz of that we feel his death as a great loss to industry...since they performed well thats y still Sheela got a warm welcome back to industry and only bcoz of her presence manasinakkare become a super hit.. thats the effect of prmnazir and sheela.....beautiful pair....

sanoop, ive hardly seen more than 10-15 movies of Nazir, what an impression. those were the detective type and lover type roles of the early 70s. have you seen movie Postmortem, only recently i saw that and i begin to understand your point. what a fantastic film, he underplayed the dual role so subtly and Mamooty only looked lie a boy there.

Prem Nazir has given more number of Super Hits in the history of Mal. cinema. I read in a magazine that when his flops at the box office, he used to act freely for the producer of that film which flopped. Now, whether it is Mammoo or Lal, they never compromise on their renumeration, they dont care whether their film flop or become hit at the box office.
I could say Prem Nazir is a good hearted Super star.
