  tejas, i SERIOUSLY dont agree with u...cuz mohanlal HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE BEST...and he's way better..MOHANLAL IS ONE OF THE FEW ACTORS IN MALAYALAM THAT HAS A GREAT PERSONALITY AND TALENT...DILEEP IS THE SAME WAY TOO...(PLEASE DONT START FIGHTING ABOUT DILEEP!!!!)...I THINK MAMOOTY'S A SHANNAN, I MEAN, HE'S ALWAYS BRAGGING AND STUFF...TOO MUCH HEADWEIGHT, HE'S NOT THAT TALENTED EITHER...IN MY OPINION...

  Prem Nazir was the best as he was not only a good actor but also a great philanthropist. He never used to milk the producers dry and always acted for a reasonable price. He used to lend money to everyone who asked for his help. God helps those who help themselves. So we have Nazir in the lead role over 600-700 films. Can you name another actor in the same league from Malayalam cinema, Bollywood or Hollywood matching this world record holder artist from Kerala?

  Top most actors as per acting abilities are:
  
  Sathyan, Madhu, Prem Nazir & Jayan from the earlier generation of heroes
  Mohan Lal, Mammooty, Suresh Gopi & Jayaram in the generation who succeeded them.
  Adoor Bhasi & SP Pillai as comedians from old films.
  Innocent, Jagathy, Sreenivasan, Mamu Koya as comedians in the next generation.
  Oduvil Unnikrishnan & Thilakan as a fantastic character artists
  Balan K Nair, Ummar & Kottarakar Sreedharan Nair as villains followed by Narendra Prasad as the next villain
  Besides other great artists like PJ Antony of Nirmalayam & Raghavan from Chambaratti
  
  Shobhana, Sharada, KPAC Lalitha, Jay Bharati & Kaviyoor Ponnamma are fine among women.
  
  Post Mohan Lal/Mammooty era none of the heroes excepting PrithviRaj a little bit look good to make it big. The decline in quality Malayalam films is being reflected at the national awards. Certainly one cannot expect to win awards with slapstick comedies of Dileep or other actors women and men included who lack appeal.

  DJ----"hypothetical guess"---not exactly "angalais britannica"---sorry can't help being a smart alec.
  Nice posts by many film lovers---marred by a few dileep/jayasuriya brand of film-goers.I consider myself extremely tolerant and charitable--but hate these guys and all that they stand for in our curent pop culture.
  Murali in the list of good actors---Well murali never impressed me much as an actor----he's very competent --no doubt but he's a lil too shy of that edge by which u measure greatness.He has written books on acting --nadanashatara And infact spend a whole year training for a part of ravanan in kaavalam's drama.
  Let murali impress the average uppitty self-styled critics/movie goers as a great actor--but hope u guys view it a little more objectively.
