I think CB is a hit not a superhit..

YEs. CB is only a hit. Yesterday read an interview with fazil, he said that the collections for CB were just adequate to make a profit. He says though there was good opinion, due to piracy the collections were not too good.
So the only Super hits this year are
1. CID Moosa
2. Balettan
Hits
1. Cronic Bachelor
2. Thilakam
3. Swapnakoodu
Average
1. Kasthooriman
2. Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum
3. Mr.Bramhachari
4. Magic Magic

Coming to the actual profits, just making a comparision between Balettan and CID Moosa...
Balettan made at a cost of 2.2 Crores
Moosa made at a cost of 3.3 Crores
Balettan is said to have made a profit of at least 1.5 crores
What chould CID Moosa collect to make a profit of 1.5 Crores?
Considering that it got at least 75 Lakh from the other rights (i.e. Audio, Video, Overseas, TV, etc..) its cost comes down to 2.55 Crores...
So to have made a profit of 1.5 Crores, Moosa must have a total collection of 12.15 Crores, Highly unlikely considering the collection reports from the main centers.
So looks like Balettan is the most profitable movie from the point of view of the Producer.

San, as per any report you can show me, Swapnakoodu has never been above Balettan... The fact that you are placing Swapnakoodu above Balettan shows the clear bias in your analysis... its not based on any fact...
Balettan's, currently in TVM has collected 53.5 Lak in 71 days, Swapnakoodu has collected only 40 lakh so far...
In Calicut Balletan is 49.5 Lakh in 71 days while Swapnakoodu is 34 Lakh in 63 days...
As per latest reports, only 3 movies are releasing for Ramzan and Balettan and Swapnakoodu will continue in many centers till Christmas... So even it Balettan is moved from its current theatre at 86 days, it will be moved to another A theatre in Tvm itself...
CID Moosa at the end of its run of 100 days in TVM had collected 65+ Lakhs... even in these Ramzan days, Balettan is collecting nearly 2.5 Lakhs per week in TVM, before the start of Ramzan that was 3.5 Lakh per week...
For Fazil's view on the Collection of Cronic Bachelor, please read his interview in the latest edition of Chithrabhumi... Dont base your opinion on hear say... Till I read that interview, I too was of the opinion that Cronic Bachelor would have made a lot of money...

let us wait till nov.21 .
Yes. I am little biased. ente ullinte ullil balettanum brahmachariyum poleyulla 3rd rate padangal pottanam ennu thanne aanu...I will never see these type of movies. KCM njan first week il thanne poyi kanda oraal anu. Even though the movie was not good, there was good intention and creativity.
Also I missed Kastooriman in the list.It should come at 10th place. Except balettan,I have seen all other hit movies..
My rating for that 9..
1. nandanam -- sweet love story
2. swapnakoodu - youthful + freshness
3. kalyanaraman - enjoyable comedy
4. yathrakkarude sradhakku - satyan sreeni touch
5. nammal - good story
6. kastooriman - emotional story
7. chronic bachelor - worst siddique(lal) movie
8. CID moosa - no story at all
9. thilakkam - worst movie seen in recent times
- From: Jom (@ 61.11.56.237)
on: Fri Nov 14 05:07:19 EST 2003
Objectively speaking my rating (In terms of quality) would be
The Good
1. Nandanam - A good movie with a neat twist in the Climax
2. Kasthooriman - A good movie with the main characters showing positive attitude all the time.
3. Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum - A good story told from the perspective of a child and a mother whose one child has killed the other.
The Average
1. Yathrakarude Shradakku - Not so great. Just an average film. Untried concept of Living in couples.
2. Kilichundan Mampazham - was better than Cronic & Thillakam but worse than Kasthooriman & EnteVeedu Appuvinteyum. Failed because of Dialect and Lal's obesity.
3. Balettan - nothing great. In fact a rehash of many old movies (Nettipattam, Velyettan, etc..)
I havent seen Nammal & Kalyanaraman to make a comment.
Pure Nonsense
1. Thillakam
2. CID Moosa
3. Cronic Bachelor
Now you consider the movies that made money this year
1. CID Moosa
2. Balettan
3. Cronic Bachelor
4. Thillakam
All of them are not good films. It shows a poor taste from the audience and will ensure that the next 5 years will see only garbage being generated.

Mohanlal movies get best collection from TVM.So if we just decide in terms of TVM collections,Kilichundan mambazham and Mr.Brahmachari may be above Kasthooriman .But Kerala is not Bombay .In Bollywood,if you get decent collections from Bombay, the movie is hit.But in Kerala, hits or flop depends on atleast 9 centers including ERN,CAL,PAL,TCR,QLN,APY,KTM &Kannur.Movies like Swapnakoodu and Nammal collected most from Ernakulam.Thilakkam was a big grosser at Trissur and Ernakulam area.Balettan is a big hit at south kerala ,but couldnt even finish 50 days at Trissur area.Only movie which finished 5o days in all major centers with good collections was CID Moosa .
The rankings
1)CID Moosa
2)Chronic Bachelor
3)Thilakkam
4)Balettan
5)Swapnakoodu
6)Kasthooriman
7)Mr.Brahmachari
8)Meerayude dukham
9)Kilichundan
10)Ente veedu
Flops
1)Gramaphone
2)Pattalam
3)Vellithira
4)Sadanandante samayam
5)Swapnam kondoru
6)Evar
7)Magic magic
8)Anyar
9)Mizhi randilum
10)The leader.

Yes San KCM was colourful, songs were excellent.. but komaaly malayalees want only komaaly movies like moosa, Thilakkam, Kalyanaraman, and the worst Siddique movie..Chronic. Movies like Nammal, Swapnakoodu and Kasthooriman should be hits to encourage colorful youth movies in malayalam.
