Saw the long-and-eagerly-awaited Gramaphone yesterday. Its indeed a pity that the movie turns out to be a big BORE, with everything abt it - story, script, direction - going haywire. I couldnt for the life of me understand how such a YAWN of a story could be made into a movie by a director like Kamal. Barring a not-so-cliched climax, everything about the movie is pathetic, and even the performances seemed lacklustre. Post interval, the film is such a drag that u need oxygen masks to survive the mess. The combination scenes between Meera and Navya, after the interval, when Navya's tragic fate has been revealed, are intended to be intensely emotional. However they produce just the opposite effect - they are hilarious, on account of their inanity. Dileep has nothing much to do, except look helpless throughout, Meera jasmine is wasted as the girl who gets "shipped" to Israel (and sports a terrible hairdo), and Navya Nair would be embarassed about her role in the movie now that she is a State Award winning actress. Her's is the worst role, that defies logic, and lacks both sense and sensibility. Loosly etched out chracterisations like that of Bindu Panicker or Revathy only add pain to the already burning ass.
On the whole, PATHETIC! :-((
