hi,
I would like to start this thread so we could clarify ragas of krithis that we may not be able to find out.
Let me begin by asking about this Thyagaraja Krithi rendered by Balamurali "Nee balama Nee Nama Balama"
I could not find this in TK Govinda Rao's book.

  shyam: T.K.Govinda Rao's book does not contain all of Tyagaraja's kritis since some are considered to be spurious compositions. Including these there are 720 kritis with Tyagaraja mudra but there is no song that has the starting words "Ni balama ni nama balama". Some kritis are sung starting with the anupallavi first then joining up with the pallavi. Also what is the raga that is indicated on the recording? It would be easier to trace if the complete lyrics are available.

The following are the songs Tyagaraja composed in Ritigaula: Bale balendu bhushani, Chera ravademira, Dvaitamu sukhama, Jo jo rama ananda ghana, Ninnu vidachi, Ni daya galgute, Paripalaya paripalaya, Ragaratna malikache, Sadguru svamiki satiyu, Sita nayaka shritajana.

  As far as I know Tyagaraja has composed three songs in Anandabhairavi: Nike teliyakapote, Kshira sagara vihara and Rama rama nivaramu. I had collected all his songs (720 including some disputed ones) and published it in 1995. Also in my list of 32500 song titles there is no song that comes close to this in terms of starting words. I am curious about this new composition. Could you please provide the full pallavi line and tala of this song? Thanks

  TKG's book of Tyagaraja's krtis is available at Karnatic Music Book Centre, 14 Sripuram 1st Street, Royapettah, Chennai 600014. Phone 826 0147. The price is around 350 rupees. He also has published a book on Shyama Shama Shastri's compositions and another on Dikshitar's.

  Could any one please tell me about the raga 'aganandini'. This is janyam of which raga and what is the ragalakshana ? I have read that Sri Yesudas had composed a song in malayalam in this raga long back.
